Job Opportunity

ACTED Kenya is looking for a self driven and a self oriented professional to fill the following post:

Veterinary Doctor for Livestock Project in East Pokot, Kenya

Based in Churo, East Pokot, the Veterinary Doctor will bear the following main responsibilities:

Program Support and Implementation:

* Undertake the elaboration of work-plans and timelines
* Ensure projects are conducted according to pre-set work-plans including coordination with Logistics, Finance, AME
* Implement de-worming campaign for 15 000 livestock
* Undertake training of 14 Community Animal Health Workers and Rehabilitation of the Livestock Market-Place in Amaya.
* Oversee work of junior staff members
* Prepare weekly reports outlining activities and problems
* Attend coordination meetings based in Chemolingot or elsewhere as needed and circulate minutes to relevant staff
* Maintain and oversee updating of relevant ACTED project files and documentation.

Required Skills:

* Minimum 3 years experience with NGO/INGO in livestock related projects
* University degree or higher diploma in veterinary health.
* Strong communication skills and previous managerial experience
* Excellent computer skills including Excel
* Fluent English and Kiswahili, pokot language an added advantage.
* Highly organized and able to prioritize and meet deadlines effectively
