Africare: MARKETING CO-ORDINATOR

JOB TITLE: MARKETING CO-ORDINATOR

Africare in collaboration with World Food Program is implementing Purchase for Progress project in the districts of Amuria, Kaberamaido and Soroti in Teso sub-region. The main focus of the project is to facilitate marketing of agricultural produce through promotion and supporting collective marketing.

To ensure effective implementation and quality in service delivery, Africare requires a high level manager who is driven by performance and meeting targets. The position will require designing, implementing the supporting farmer organization in business planning and collective marketing and as well as managing the entire marketing system. The successful candidate will be reporting to the Project Coordinator. The position is based in Soroti Africare Field Office.

Their main responsibilities will be as follows:
• Developing capacity of farmer organizations to manage farming as a business
• Working closely with the MYAP productivity improvement team, support the training in post harvest handling and marketing.
. Design and conduct regular market information surveys, analysis and dissemination of the same to the farmers and other actors in the supply chain
• Developing effective marketing strategy to enhance growth and customer satisfaction
• Supervising marketing team to ensure that it achieves set business objectives
• Responsible for regular reviews of the marketing strategy and plans in liaison with the stakeholders
• Advising management on the ever changing market trends and environment

Required Competencies:
• Degree in Agricultural economics, Agri-business management, or Business management. Knowledge of value chain management, stores management and post harvest handling is essential is an added advantage
• Experience in collective marketing by rural farmer organizations
• Knowledge of Uganda Commodity Exchange services
• At least 2 years working experience in a managerial position preferably in private sector
• Experience in dealing and performing at strategic level
• Computer literate
• Will and talent to provide excellent management and customer focus
• A highly structured and driven approach to work highly results oriented with a proven track record
• Must have excellent communication skills
• Good interpersonal, people and team management skills
• Ability to influence key stakeholders
• Must be creative and innovative
• Being able to deliver results and meet customer expectations
• Ability to decide and initiate action
