Lutheran World Federation: CHILD BID ASSISTANT

Lutheran World Federation/Department for World Service Kenya Programme is seeking to recruit Kenyan nationals for the following position, to be based in Kakuma Refugee Camp.

1. CHILD BID ASSISTANT (2 Posts)
The Child BID Assistant will be based in Kakuma and shall be responsible for assisting in coordinating and overseeing operational plans in the Child unit as assigned by the Child Protection Officer. The person will work to improve the proper operations, management and improvement of the Child unit. The incumbent will report directly to the Child Protection Officer while working closely on a daily basis in collaboration with other sectors of LWF.

Duties and responsibilities will include:
• Facilitate establishment of mechanism for conducting BID assessments and review of decisions
• Coordination of regular and ad hoc BID panel meetings as instructed.
• Document and update data on unaccompanied minors and separated children
• Carry out monitoring and evaluation of child development BID projects.
• In collaboration with the beneficiaries carry out community needs assessment and coordinate the compilation of a report that reflects areas of priority in child development in Kakuma.
• In collaboration with the beneficiaries, assist to assess the community’s training needs and plan and facilitate relevant training.
• Carry out other duties as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor or designate.

Professional Qualification:
• At least Diploma in Social Sciences or related area
• Understanding of child protection laws and issues.
• Considerable amount of experience in Child related areas.
• Professional counseling skills will be an added advantage
• Must be computer literate

• Excellent communication, organization and presentation skills.
• Good analytical and problem solving skills.
