Kenya Education Staff Institute: Chief Training Coordinators

The Kenya Education Staff Institute is seeking qualified candidates to fill the following positions to be based in the regional centers at Kisumu, Kakamega, Eldoret, Nyeri, Embu and Garissa.

Overall responsibility: To setup, manage and supervise the regional centre.

Detailed responsibilities include:

* Coordinating training programs
* Design, develop, deliver capacity development programs in management
* Maintain standards and participate in monitoring and evaluation of capacity development programs
* Prepare materials, resources and monitoring tools for capacity development programs
* Participate in capacity development surveys and assist in the investigation of potential project areas and recommend appropriate interventions.
* Initiate and co-ordinate management consultancy projects of the institute.
* Report writing for donor and organizational requirements as well as proposal writing for new funding.
* Conduct T.N.A. within the region.

Qualifications and Experience:

* Master degree in education administration or equivalent from a recognized institution
* Bachelor degree in education or equivalent from a recognized institution
* Minimum of three years of work experience in carrying out capacity building activities.
* Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
* Good computer skills
* Ability to work both independently and as an effective team member.
* In depth knowledge of functions and practices of the Ministry of Education
* Ability to use Distance learning methodology will be an added advantage.

Terms and conditions: These are KESI Council recruited positions for which KESI offers a basic salary, medical insurance and leave provisions.

The initial contract period will be for three years, subject to a probationary period of six months.

Gross Salary: Kshs. 74,575 per month.

Training and Mentorship Manager

Coordinate mentors program

* Organize appropriate training for mentors
* Facilitate the mentor- mentee relationship

Appraisal of training and mentoring effectiveness
* Evaluate the successes and gaps of the training and mentoring program

Marginal functions
* Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the supervisor

African Research and Resource Forum: Programme Interns


The African Research and Resource Forum (ARRF) is a research, data resource, reflection and policy debate institution devoted to the resolution of the governance and development challenges confronting policy-makers and societies in the East African Community (EAC) and Great Lakes Region.

It links scholars, researchers, opinion leaders and public service functionaries to interact and shade ideas. The Forum also facilitates the evolution of regional community of scholars, activists and institutions, with a shared interest in resolving inter-African development problems.

ARRF wishes to fill the following vacancies at the secretariat in Nairobi, Kenya.

Programme Interns

2 Positions

The ARRF Internship programme aims at providing valuable work experience to fresh graduates, holding Bachelors or Masters Degrees with a demonstrated interest in development policy research and analysis as well as in ICT/Library.

Interns will be supervised by senior research/program staff for the duration of their internship. The minimum period for internship is three (3) Months while the maximum is six (6) months.

Those interested in a 6-months internship are preferred. ARRF pays only modest and a full medical insurance cover. No other remuneration is offered to the program interns.

Qualifications:

* At least a Bachelors degree in ICT/Library, Public Administration, Political Science, development Economics, Economic Policy or related social sciences. A Masters degree in any of these areas will be an added advantage
* Applicants should be citizens of any EAC member state, but currently residing in Kenya.
* Good interpersonal and writing skills will be added advantages.

Job Summary

This job will involve the following:

* He/she will be responsible for planning of all activities related to the capacity building in the project;
* Through consultation with other Program Staff members and key stakeholders, develop and design the Training Program for the resource centre for the next three years;
* Ensure the design and development of curriculum and courses for the resource centre as agreed upon;
* Ensure and liaise with the relevant staff members in the development and production of essential tools and materials to be used in the different activities of the Capacity Building of the project;
* Ensure that the training and capacity building activities agreed upon are implemented in a timely manner as per the work plan and set targets are achieved;
* Ensure that relevant project outputs, best practices and lessons learned are captured, well documented and disseminated, complying with the agreed requirements;

* Amend and revise capacity building activities as necessary in order to adapt to the changes that might occur within the life of the project;
* Coordinate and supervise technical staff involved in capacity building;
* Ensure that the narrative reports on training and capacity building are compiled and submitted in a timely manner.

Specific Tasks of the Training Officer

Networking and Collaboration responsibilities:

* Develop and maintain existing networks and partnerships with projects’ stakeholders and partners;
* Ensure gender equity throughout the organization’s capacity building activities and practice;
* Represent AYT at selected meetings, conferences and other relevant events with a focus on staying up-to-date in the field of capacity building requirements in regards to youth employment.

Eligibility and Competencies:

* University degree in Education; Social Sciences or Business related field from a recognized university/institute;
* Demonstrated competence and administrative ability in planning and management of programmes on entrepreneurship, youth development and/or related activities;
* Experience in conducting and facilitating youth training workshops;
* Proficiency in written and spoken English and Kiswahili;
* Knowledge and skills of relevant computer applications of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point), knowledge of Internet communications and command is required

2. Information Systems Auditor

The Job

Reporting to the Chief Manager, Internal Audit & Risk Compliance, and the holder will undertake reviews of the NKCC’s ICT infrastructure and provide assurance to management on the adequacy of the system controls.

Key Responsibilities:

* Conducting regular risk assessments in The NKCC’s Information System and recommend measures to mitigate them.
* Contribute to the development of the annual Information Systems audit plan, programmes and schedules on priority basis.
* Auditing of automated systems and information technology in all areas of The NKCC as per annual Information Systems audit plan.

The Candidate:

* A degree in Information Systems preferably BSC in Computer Science from a recognized University.
* Professional Qualifications in Certified Information Systems Audit (CISA) or Certified Information Systems Management (CISM) is desirable.
* 2-3 years experience in Information Systems audit within an internal audit function or external audit work experience specializing in Information Systems audit from a reputable audit firm.
* Ability to apply professional and other skills acquired in an Enterprise Resource Planning environment.
* Good understanding of information systems controls and techniques for evaluating such controls, concept of risk and risk assessment.

The Job

The Depot Manager will be Reporting to the Stores Manager.

Handicap International: Sign Language Trainer

The Position

The Sign language (SL) trainer will contribute to the implementation of the CBR project as per the project strategy and annual action plan.

He/She is expected to closely work with UNHCR and Other Implementing partners as well as HI technical trainers, Disability Mainstreaming officer and refugee team in the promotion of appropriate interventions for Deaf community and integration of Persons with disabilities (Deaf) in the Dadaab refugee camps and provide direction to the team of trainers and other service providers.

The SL Trainer will operate as a focal point and ensure due liaison with other IPs and UNHCR at Dadaab level.

He/she will be responsible for:

* Ensuring smooth flow of communication between HI and stakeholders in Dadaab refugee camps.
* Coordinating and ensuring quality of services for the deaf at the camp level.
* Supporting the smooth implementation of HI activities at camp level by ensuring participation of the Deaf.
* Provide sign interpretation during project review meetings with the staff at Dadaab and the Camp level

Qualifications and skills required:

Education: Background in Education (diploma) with a bias in sign language

Experience:

* 4 years experience in sign language interpretation.
* Experience in working with/for Deaf Persons within refugee camps an added advantage.

Position scope

The organization is recruiting for a top university graduate with 1-3 years of work experience to help us research, design, launch, and monitor several new product launch initiatives. The Product Management Trainee will be based in Nairobi with occasional travel within Kenya.

Responsibilities:

The Product Management Trainee will directly report to the Product Manager – Services and support the design and implementation of several new products and services.

Activities for the Trainee will include, but not necessarily be limited to:

Mobile Layaway Service:

* Monitoring and administering the registration of KickStart customers who are paying for their pumps through M-PESA
* Analyzing participation and generating reports by Product, Dealer, Sales Rep, Territory, etc.

Farmer-to-Farmer Referral Service:

* Helping to design the levels of recognition and rewards, marketing collateral, operations, tracking system, etc.
* Monitoring and analyzing the successes and challenges of the initial pilot

New Services:

* Conducting field research to assess the market potential for new services, such as “Facebook for Farmers,” dealer incentive programs, brokers/middlemen as mobile dealers, etc.

General Product Management:

* Building a KickStart customer segmentation and customer fact sheet based on analysis of our Hot Prospects database, Voice of the Farmer surveys, and Impact Monitoring data
* Supporting the product management team and senior management team in ad hoc customer surveys and financial modeling
* Driving the development and production of instructional videos for dealers and end-customers on how to install 2 of our newest irrigation pumps set to launch this year

Qualifications:

* Bachelor’s degree with a strong academic record required, no lower than a second class honours upper division or equivalent GPA. MBA preferred.
* 1-3 years of work experience, preferably in business management.
* Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, especially in Excel.
* Strong research, analytical, and financial modeling skills.
* Ability to think strategically about complex issues and develop thoughtful recommendations and action plans.
* Results/performance oriented – proven “self-starter”.
* Excellent interpersonal and communications skills – a complete team player.
* Exceptional planning, organizational, and leadership capabilities.
* Ability to work in a dynamic and unstructured environment.
* Technical background, especially experience with mobile technology, highly preferred.

The Trainer will be responsible for the preparation, facilitation and assessment of learning and development programmes, with the aim of facilitating the acquisition or improvement of job related skills and competencies.
