1. Manager – Finance and ICT

Based at the head office and reporting to the CEO, the position is responsible for the set up and supervision of the Finance and ICT functions, development of a team of professional staff within the department, financial and management accounting, budgeting and budgetary controls, formulation of risk management initiatives, compliance with policies and regulatory requirements amongst other duties.

Key job Requirements:

Qualified Accountant ACCA/CPAK, 5 years experience in a MFI banking institution. An IT qualification plus working knowledge of bankers realm software is an added advantage. Knowledge of risk management frameworks and regulatory reporting.

2. Operations Officer

Based at the branch and reporting to the Manager — Operations, the position is responsible for implementation and delivery of branch operations strategy, customer service delivery, maintenance and improvements of operational standards, cash management and reconciliations; accuracy of data in the core MIS system, compliance with operational policies and regulatory requirements amongst other duties.

Key Job Requirements:

A Bachelors degree in a business related field, 3 years experience in a banking environment, AKIB/CPA qualifications and working knowledge of Bankers realm software is an added advantage.

3. Business Development Officers

Based at the branch and reporting to the Manager — Operations, the position is responsible for business growth, managing client relationships and marketing initiatives, monitoring market conditions and trends and providing management with feedback on products, processes and delivery systems, compliance with operational policies amongst other duties.

Key Job Requirements:

A Bachelor degree/Diploma in a business related field, 3 years experience in a MFI banking environment, Experience in various MFI lending approaches including SME lending desirable.

4. Credit Officer

Based at the branch and reporting to the Manager – Operations, the position is responsible for loan origination, loan appraisals, credit records and security documentation, processing and recoveries amongst other duties.

Key Job Requirements:

A Bachelors degree/Diploma in a business related field plus a Credit/CPA qualification. 3 years experience in a MFI banking environment, Experience in SME lending desirable.

5. MIS Officer

Based at the head office and reporting to the Manager — Finance & ICT, the position is responsible for implementing the IT strategy; maintenance of database, networks, hardware; user support amongst other duties.

Key Job Requirements:

A Bachelors Degree/ Diploma certificate in an IT related field. Microsoft certification (MCSE or MCSA or MCP) is an added advantage, 2 years experience in a financial institution.

6. Tellers/Customer Relations Officers

Based at the branch and reporting to the operations officer, the position is responsible for handling customer enquiries, front & back office support, cashier duties amongst others duties.

Key Job Requirements

A Diploma certificate in a business related field, AKIB/CPA qualification is an added advantage, 2 years experience in a financial institution.

GOAL Uganda: Food Security Extension Officer

Programme Overview;
GOAL has recently secured some funding and is expanding and is starting more projects in Abim and Bugiri Districts. We are progressively mainstreaming issues of HIV/AIDS, gender child protection, disabilities, environment and disaster risk reduction across all our activities. GOAL works on a district focused approach, and uses a mixture of direct implementation and partnerships with local organizations to effect our mission. GOAL Uganda current programme includes; the Bugiri District HIV/AIDS programme which encompasses the Housing Support Project, the Pader District crisis recovery/development programme and the Abim District recovery/development programme. The emergency and crisis recovery programme is currently focusing on transitioning from emergency to long term recovery as the affected populations move from the camps towards their original homes and it is implemented by a team of GOAL staff based in Kalongo,Pader District and Abim. To support these programmes, GOAL seeks to recruit qualified persons that can take up the challenge.

Food Security Extension Officer

General Description of the Role:
The role will be responsible for the management and implementation of GOAL food security project in Abim with strong links to the WASH project. The Food Security Extension Officer will be reporting to the Abim Project Manager on a day to day basis and technically to the Livelihoods Project Manager based in Kalongo. The position will be responsible for management of Food Security Assistant.

Requirements (Essential):
• University degree in agriculture or its equivalent.
• Three years experience of extension work in food security programming and other agricultural related activities in an emergency/crisis recovery situation.
• People management, personnel and training skills
• Knowledge of Farmer Field Schools (FFS) or having worked with FFS is a strong asset.
•Good communication skills including good spoken and written English.
• Good computer skills, good working knowledge of Microsoft excel and Word.
•Willing to live in remote locations.

Desirable:
•Ability to speak the local Itur language will be an added advantage

Monitoring and Evaluation Officer

General Description of the Role:
Reporting to the Programme Manager, the Monitoring and Evaluation; Officer will have a prime responsibility for tracking the program's indicators and targets, through developing and up dating a comprehensive monitoring and evaluation systems for GOAL and partners and partner CBOs. He/She will ensure that the project monitoring and reporting system meets PEPFAR, GOAL and Government of Uganda monitoring requirements as per the approved Project detailed implementation plan (DIP) and will provide technical assistance to the project team and implementation partners. Working closely with the project team and the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning team, she/he will support development of systems for knowledge management, documenting and sharing emerging lessons from the project as well as implementing the country MSE work plan by providing M and E support to the non PEPFAR funded projects i.e. Protection, Education, WASH and Livelihoods. The incumbent will also functionally report to the GOAL Uganda Organizational Learning, Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator based in Kampala.

Requirements
Degree in Public Health, Social sciences, Development studies or related, relevant discipline
• 5 years work experience in humanitarian and recovery context programming
• At least 3 years experience working or heading a busy M and E department preferably with a reputable NGO.
• She/he should have demonstrated ability to design and implement M and E systems with HIV/AIDS or public health projects.
• She/he should have demonstrated ability to work with and provide technical support to CBOs with little capacity to grasp complicated concepts.
• She/he should have strong organizational and computer skills including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and statistical packages used for data analysis like SPSS or EP1 info.
• Good, demonstrable writing and communication skills in English
Desirable:
• Strong knowledge of public health surveillance systems, monitoring, and program evaluation and of U.S. government funded projects will be an added advantage.
• Knowledge and experience working for a USAID funded programs.

Environmental and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Advisor - Kampala

General Description of the Role:
GOAL Uganda is seeking an experienced and qualified Ugandan National to facilitate the mainstreaming of environmental issues and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) in all GOAL Uganda programme offices. GOAL therefore is seeking to recruit an Environment and DRR Advisor who will;
• Lead the process of development and dissemination of a comprehen¬sive policy on environmental programming based on an understand¬ing of the need to promote development which does not result in dam¬aging or irreversible environmental impacts;
• Advise upon and facilitate the development and selection of appropriate tools for the assessment of environmental impact of programme activities and design of future programming; for both impact mitigation as well as their sustainability in contextually assessed DRR scenario plans;
* Carry-out environmental audits and assessments for existing and planned projects;
* Ensure GOAL Uganda's compliance with environmental legislation in co-ordination with local government authorities and the Uganda Requirements

Role Definition:

Job description:

A Christian resource mobilizer is being sought for to build relationships and explore new resource opportunities for a church’s mission department. Mobilizer is expected to mobilize resources from various sources.

The main categories of fundraiser are: community, corporate, major gifts, trusts, and events. The mobilizer should have ability to networks and raise awareness on the church mission’s department’s work, aims and goals.

Typical work activities:

This posts work activities typically include to::

  • motivate and facilitate supporters to maximize the resources they raise for missions;
  • inspire new supporters to raise resources, while maintaining and developing relationships with existing supporters;
  • develop new and imaginative fundraising activities, many of which will be events-based;

UN-HABITAT: Assistant Librarian

BACKGROUND
The United Nations Human Settlements Programme, UN-HABITAT, is the agency for human settlements. The post is located in the Information Management Unit, Information Services Section within the Office of the Executive Director, UN-HABITAT

RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the overall supervision of Chief, Information Services Section, and direct supervision of Head, Information Management Unit, the Assistant Librarian is responsible for maintaining UN-HABITAT collection, in the Library and coordination of UN-HABITAT Library partnership with National University Libraries, and Kenya National Library on the Container Library Project, and facilitate information provision to Ministry of Housing Staff in Kenya for closer collaboration with the Agency, The incumbent will perform the following duties;

1.Maintain the partnership developed with the University Librarians and Kenya National Library Services in order to enhance information and knowledge sharing, and capacity building initiatives; maintain close contacts with the University Librarians and coordinate bi monthly workshops and coordinate the use of library by University staff who are taking relevant subjects to the work of UN-HABITAT and ensure the distribution of UN-HABITAT publications to the University Libraries in Kenya and ensure that the University Libraries have allocated space for UN-HABITAT collection.

2.Undertake activities to bring information closer to the people who live in informal settlement areas through partnership with Kenya National Library Services in the Container Library Project.

3,Undertake outreach activities to promote capacity building in the region especially post conflict countries. Coordinate with the respective countries through the Ministries of Housing and Urbanization their information training needs, and undertake training on different information management topics as required.

4. Ensure that the Ministry of Housing in Kenya is provided with the information they need in order to understand UN-HABITAT mandate and to enable them participate in UN-HABITAT events effectively.

5. Use knowledge of institutional information needs to carry out periodic needs analysis and consult staff and partners, including national partners, to evaluate, recommend and acquire printed and electronic material to be added to the library collection. Monitor the selection of such material and order/subscribe as needed.

6. Maintain the Library web page promoting effective access of information resources; participate in collaborative digital reference services and contribute to relevant subject portals in partnership with UNEP. In collaboration with UNEP ensure participation of relevant Library users in the country to free online databases Online Access to Research on the Environment (OARE).

7. Use knowledge of institutional information needs to carry out periodic needs analysis and consult staff and partners to evaluate, recommend and acquire printed and electronic material to be added to the library collection. Monitor the selection of such material and order/subscribe as needed.

8. Undertake the physical processing of new acquisition, and prepare abstracts for circulation to staff for information. Perform collection maintenance according to the library’s classification, including: indexing, and cataloguing UN-HABITAT’S print and electronic information resources.

9. Carry out reference interview with staff to find out information that meet their needs and compile appropriate lists for Selective Dissemination of Information. Assist staff and national and other partners with research on a range of Urbanization issues, including compilation of relevant materials from online and other sources.

10.Evaluate adequacy of existing reference and information management tools, such as databases, to ensure that new tools developed for efficient access to information are accessible to staff and partners throughout the Office. Provide technical support and instructions to library patrons using electronic resources and reference tools.

11. Participate in the investigation of the use of web 2.0 tools and social networking sites for the development of the Library, and conduct periodic user satisfaction surveys and take action to improve Library services accordingly.

12. Provide assistance on the Intranet content management and advise UN-HABITAT staff seeking expertise on information architecture, content organization, and meta-data standards on the intranet. Add content, Administer and participate in Intranet marketing strategy through training, presentations and seminars

13.Undertake any other duties as requested by the Head Information Management Unit or Chief, Information Services Section

COMPETENCIES & PROFESSIONALISM:

Knowledge of library operations and electronic data management. Ability to apply conceptual, analytical, and evaluative skills and identify issues, formulate opinions and make conclusions and recommendations. Ability to develop sources for data collection.

Education: University degree in Library, Information Science or a related field, a higher diploma in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the University degree.

Work Experience:

At least three years of experience in library or information management field. Proven experience in electronic resource management as well as ability to manage complex problems and attend to user needs.

Language:
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another United Nations official language is an advantage.

Other skills:
