Uganda Development Corporation (UDC) was established by the Uganda Development Corporation Act (Cap 329) of 1952 with the objective of facilitating the industrial and economic development of Uganda. Due to the economic liberalization policies implemented by the Government beginning with the late 1980s Government was obliged to wind up UDC in 1998.
However, given the need for Government to continue having an Agency to facilitate the industrial and economic development of Uganda by promoting and assisting in financing, management and or establishment of strategic development projects, it was decided that UDC should be revived. UDC was therefore revived at the beginning of 2008. UDC will now be responsible for facilitating the industrial and economic development of Uganda as the investment arm of Government.
