Zinduka Afrika: Resource Mobilization Officer

Job description:

A Christian resource mobilizer is being sought for to build relationships and explore new resource opportunities for a church’s mission department. Mobilizer is expected to mobilize resources from various sources.

The main categories of fundraiser are: community, corporate, major gifts, trusts, and events. The mobilizer should have ability to networks and raise awareness on the church mission’s department’s work, aims and goals.

Typical work activities:

This posts work activities typically include to::

  • motivate and facilitate supporters to maximize the resources they raise for missions;
  • inspire new supporters to raise resources, while maintaining and developing relationships with existing supporters;
  • develop new and imaginative fundraising activities, many of which will be events-based;
  • raising awareness of the missions and its work, at both the local and national level – this may involve giving talks to groups or dealing with the media; developing and coordinating web-based resource mobilization , online auctions and merchandise sales; working with all forms of media, and producing supporting materials such as posters, websites and newsletters to promote, market and advertise forthcoming events;
  • increasing funds by researching and targeting Christian charitable trusts whose criteria match the institution’s aims and activities;
  • develop and implementing a strategy for individual and corporate supporter recruitment and development;
  • overseeing corporate fundraising, including employee giving and matched giving from employers;
  • managing and updating databases to record donor contact and preference information;
  • preparing mail-shots and correspondence, project development, proposal writing and implementation;
  • writing applications and mail-shots, using direct mailing to reach a wide range of potential and current donors;
  • developing and lead in the review of the fundraising strategy for this missions
  • develop grant and fundraising proposals and applications
  • Ensure that all reporting requirements are met

Candidates will need to demonstrate evidence of the following:

  • commitment to the mobilization for the cause of church mission’s ministry ;
  • the ability to build and maintain relationships – a crucial skill in all areas of fundraising;
  • creativity, imagination and an entrepreneurial attitude towards fundraising;
  • proactive attitude, drive and enthusiasm to carry out projects to conclusion;
  • the ability to influence others with excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • the ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines;
  • the ability to meet resource / financial targets;
  • good organizational and project management skills;
  • the ability to motivate others and work as part of a team;
  • resilience, particularly when faced with setbacks, and sensitivity to the needs of volunteers and donors;
  • Willingness to carry out a range of administrative tasks

Requirements:

  • Candidate for this position must be a born a gain Christian
  • One who has served in a church setting as a resource mobilizer for at least four years
  • Must have excellent business development skills.
  • This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, Accounting, Investment Banking or Finance.
  • Should have research and development skills
  • Experience of working in a multicultural environment
  • Excellent IT skills, including Word, Excel and Databases
  • This candidate must have skills in proposal writing and implementation of a project
