Micronutrient Initiative (MI): Regional Advisor, Research and M&E, Africa

The Micronutrient Initiative (MI) is an international not-for-profit development agency working to end micronutrient malnutrition throughout the world. MI seeks to ensure that Africa’s most vulnerable – especially women in children – get the vitamins and minerals they need to survive and thrive.

MI works in partnership with governments, development agencies, NGOs, research institutions, and the food industry to increase access to essential micronutrients.

Due to expansion in our Africa office, MI is seeking to recruit for the position of Regional Advisor, Research and M&E, Africa to be based in Nairobi.

Key responsibilities:

Initiate research proposals; advise regional and country teams in design and implementation of M&E components in all new programs, and research projects and program evaluations; build M&E capacity of MI program staff; provide technical advice in the development of funding proposals; manage the appropriate documentation and dissemination of program results.

Education requirements:

PhD in public health, nutrition, epidemiology, program policy and planning, health economics or other relevant discipline with focus on operations and/or evaluation research

Experience: Minimum 5 years on design, implementation, analysis and publication of operations and/or evaluation research; hands-on operations and/or evaluation research experience in developing countries; publications in reputable peer reviewed journals, commensurate with years of experience

Other skills:

Advanced data management and statistical analysis skills; familiarity with database software; strong report or research writing/documentation; strong organization and management skills; grant proposal preparation.

Duty Station:

Kenya, with regular travel to Senegal, Nigeria, Ethiopia and occasionally to other countries

Period of contract: 3 years renewable by mutual agreement.
