The Association of European Parliamentarians with Africa (AWEPA) works in cooperation with African Parliaments to -strengthen Parliamentary Democracy in Africa, keep Africa high on the political agenda in Europe, and facilitate African-European Parliamentary Dialogue. The AWEPA Sudan Project wishes to recruit suitably\qualified and self motivated professionals to UK the: following vacancies that exists in its Programme for the Southern Sudan Legislative Assembly (SSLA) and Abyei legislative in Southern Sudan.
The duty station of the posts is Juba - Southern Sudan with occasional travel within and outside the Sudan.

POST: FINANCE OFFICER AND PROJECT ACCOUNTANT
REPORTS TO: PROJECT COORDINATOR
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT; CONTRACT

AGE: 28 YEARS AND ABOVE
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The finance officer/ Project Accountant shall be, responsible for managing the accounts/ book keeping and general finances. He/she supports the Project Coordinator and Project Staff in the preparation and follow-up of Budgets, expenditure and financial reports.
PERSON SPECIFICATIONS;
Required Qualifications and Working Experience
•An Honours Bachelors Degree in Commerce (Accounting Option) or Business Administration/Business Studies (Accounting Option), or Finance ' and Accounting from a recognized University/ Institution
OR
• A full Professional Accounting qualification such as ACCA and CPA
• The applicant should have worked for a minimum of three (3) years as an Accountant in a Development Project or at an equivalent level in a reputable organization.
Possession of Postgraduate Qualifications in Accounting and or Finance is an added advantage
Skills and Abilities
• Should have good interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision and for long hours.
• Ability to work with computerized accounting systems,
• Willingness to work in "Hard to Reach" Areas
• Comfortable in an international/ multi-cultural working environment with fluent command of the English language;
Personal Qualities:
• Should be a person of Honesty and Integrity
• Should exhibit high moral values and accountability
Duties
• Assists the Project Coordinator in developing financial management and accounting systems.
• Monitors programme receipts and expenses on a: monthly basis;
• Monitors adherence to financial obligations related to donor contracts/ agreements;
• Manages cash and maintains books of Accounts;
• Participates in Cash flow planning;
• Executes internal control function - control of payments, bank and cash balances;
• Carries out monthly reconciliation of accounts;
• Gives support and guidance on programme/project budgeting when required;
• Analyses financial data;
• Prepares monthly receipts and expenditure reports;
• Produces final accounts;
• Performs any other duties assigned from time to time
