Busoga University; Jobs and Vacancies in Uganda

BUSOGA UNIVERSITY

Busoga University is an institution of Higher Learning authorized by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) to operate as a privately sponsored University under the supervision of the Church of Uganda. Busoga Diocese. Its vision is to develop into a centre of academic excellence in eastern Uganda, in training, research and innovation in education, science and technology, Law and other areas of academic studies.

Guided by the spirit of the Inter-University Council of East Africa where Busoga University is a member, the University invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill positions listed under:-

Professors, Senior Lecturers, Lecturers and Assistant Lecturers and Teaching Assistants,

Post: Professors/Associate Professors
(i) PhD from a recognized University, 6 years experience of University teaching and research or Master's Degree with 10 years teaching experience at undergraduate level and research,
ii) At least 5 publications in professionally recognized journals in the area of individual specialization and with evidence of supervision of graduate study programmes.

Post: Senior Lecturers

(i)PhD or Master's Degree in the relevant Law field/equivalent from a nationally recognized University,
(ii) 5 years of good teaching experience at undergraduate level
(iii) At least 3 publications in professionally recognized journals.

Post: Lecturers

(i) A PhD or Master's Degree in a relevant area from a recognized university.
(ii)3 years of teaching experience at undergraduate level.
(iii) At least one or more publications in a recognized journal.

Post: Assistant Lecturer
(i) A Master's Degree in a relevant Law field,
(ii) At least 2 years of teaching experience

Post: Teaching Assistant
(a) At least 2nd class uppers degree in Law from a recognized University.

Post: Deputy University Secretary (Administration)
Report to: University Secretary
Responsibilities:
(a) Managing meetings of the Council and its Committees meetings and preparing minutes thereafter.
(b) Coordinating all administrative activities at the University's headquarters. Handling all University incoming and outgoing correspondences and their proper registration
(c) Coordinate the development of a reliable University Central Registry for all official documents, records and data.
(d) Coordinating the development of an efficient arid reliable administrative support team at the University Headquarter.
(e) Coordinate the management and control the University Website,
(f) Oversee the planning and implementation of major University events such as Graduation Day, Foundation Day and any other special University events which may be prescribed
(g) Coordinate matters connected with procurement of the University.
(h) Undertake any other duties and responsibilities which may be prescribed by the University Secretary and the Vice -Chancellor.

Qualifications:
Candidates must hold the following qualifications:
(a) An Honours Bachelors Degree and,
(b) A Master's Degree in any of the following; (i) Public Administration or (ii) Human Resource Management or (iii) Business Administration

Experience:
A minimum of five (5) years in a responsible position in a similar institution or organization. The candidate should be above 35 years institution or organization; the candidate should be above 35 years of age.

Post: Academic Registrar
Reports to: Vice Chancellor
Responsibilities
(i) Coordinate the administration and organization of all academic matters of the University including admission, for undergraduate and post graduate studies.
(ii) Plan and coordinate University examination programmes (iii) manage the Academic Records and Information System (ARIS) of the University
(iv) Process students' academic data, documents etc. (v) Prepare names for graduation for Senate approval, (vi) Provide Secretarial services for Senate meetings and Preparation of minutes. (vii) Perform such as other functions that may be delegated by the
Vice Chancellor or Senate or Council.

Qualifications:
Applicants must hold a Master's Degree in Education or Humanities with five years experience in University academic administrative affairs. Applicants should be above 40 years of age.

Competence
(i) Ability to get the best out of other people's activities to achieve
(ii) Able to network with similar organizations (iii) Excellent communication skills for results. (iv)Track record of managing complex and fast moving administrative settings.


Remuneration
For all posts listed above remuneration will be as per Busoga University current Salary Scales with attractive fringe benefits for the right applicants
