Job vacancy: Regulatory and Compliance

Job Purpose:
To handle regulatory and compliance function, spanning a whole range of activities ranging from planning, managing, initiating compliance strategies, interaction with the regulator offering quality and timely expert advice.

Report to head - Legal and Regulatory

Key Deliverables:
• Keep track of all regulatory and compliance law changes/ developments in sector related legislation and industry best practice.
• Advising on and responsible for ensuring the company's compliance to regulations which are specific to the sector.
• To liaise with and lobby with the regulators, industry partners, Industry Operators, Policy formulators and Government entities.
• Preparation of company reports in compliance with both industry and Government regulations,
• To develop appropriate risk management techniques to ensure that the company's compliance risks are managed effectively.
• Interact with internal departments and render support in meeting compliance requirements.
• Carry out periodical reviews of internal policies in conjunction with internal departments to ensure compliance to regulatory requirements.
• Establish a process of identifying and reporting violations of procedures, policies, rules or regulations and guide and provide suggestions on compliance-related matters.
• Monitor and evaluate compliance efforts of the company and prepare reports relating thereto.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
The applicant should possess an Honors Degree in a relevant field from a recognized University; Possession of a Bachelor of Laws Degree (LLB) and Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice will be an added advantage. The candidate should also possess the following attributes:
• Experience in handling Regulatory and Compliance matters;
• At least 7 years continuous service In Commercial, Audit, and Legal, Risk management or environment in a regulatory function;
• Ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels with demonstrable track record;
• Possess Strong negotiation skills;
• Possess strong organizational and teamwork skills;
• Excellent communication skills and ability to express himself/herself logically, clearly and concisely;
• Strong research skills and technical knowledge of telecommunications related laws and regulations;
• High levels of integrity.
