World Vision Uganda (WVU) is a Christian Relief, Development and Advocacy .Non-Governmental Organization dedicated to working with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice in over 27 districts of Uganda. World Vision is committed to the protection of children and does not employ people whose background is not suitable for working with children. All employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of all applicable background checks, including criminal record checks where possible. Position : HIV/AIDS OVC Advocacy
Officer Reports to: Advocacy and Communication
Specialist - HIV/AIDS
Duty station: National Office (Kampala)
Role of the Position
To provide technical support in HIV/AIDS OVC (Orphaned and Vulnerable Children) Advocacy programming and activity implementation to Area Development Programs (ADPs)

Key Result Areas
1. Provide technical guidance to HIV/AIDS in the planning and implementation of HIV and AIDS/OVC advocacy activities outlined in the project proposal and annual implementation plans.
2. Documentation and profiling of OVC advocacy impact stories generated in ADPs and at National level so as to influence policy formulation
3. Networking and partnerships development with other stakeholders involved in HIV and AIDS OVC/VCA advocacy issues
4. Build capacity of staff at ADP level in conducting HIV and AIDS/OVC Advocacy, documentation of advocacy issues, and community outreach strategies.
5. Develop, pre-test and disseminate advocacy materials in the various project areas and among partners
6. Resource mobilization for increased HIV and AIDS/OVC response within the project areas.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* A University degree in development discipline. Post graduate training will be an added advantage.
* A minimum of 5 years field experience in HIV/AIDS or OVC programming.
* Strong advocacy, documentation and communication skills.
* Must have high level self management, relational skills and self supervision
* Proposal writing skills.
* Written and Oral Communication skills are essential, and the incumbent must be a team builder, who is able to work successfully in a multicultural environment. A high level of integrity is required.
