Position: Management Accountant

Reports to: Bursar through the Deputy Bursar
a) Main purpose of job:
i) Day to day management of the stores section.
ii) Forecasting and planning of the University operations, including monthly reporting, quarterly forecasting and annual planning and budgeting.
iii) Capital Project Reports.

b) Detailed job description:
i) Day to day supervision of stores department
ii) Reconciliation of inventory counts with accounts department general ledger periodically and particularly at the end of the financial year.
iii) Working closely with the Deputy Bursar to produce the annual budget.
iv) Production of periodic reports (monthly, quarterly and annually as appropriate) of performance with budget including full analysis and comment on variances from budget.
v) Preparing feasibility studies on proposed courses of action.
vi) Evaluating returns on the University investments and projects and making recommendations for improvement, as appropriate.
vii) Ensure all expenditure is within the University approved limits and budget lines.
vii) Continuous evaluation of the accounting system to ensure that the University reporting system is in line with the information requirements of the University.
x) Ensure compliance with the University's Financial Regulations.
xi) Monitoring returns on University projects and investments and making appropriate reports and recommendations.

c) Skills:
i) Good oral and written communication skills.
ii) Computer literacy and knowledge of accounting packages
iii) Analytical mind, iv) Supervisory skills.

d) Qualifications and experience:
Applicants should have the following:
i) A good first degree in one of the following or related discipline: Commerce, Accounting, Business Administration.
ii) Full or part Professional qualifications in accounting e.g. ACCA, CIMA, CPA or its equivalent will be an added advantage.
iii) 2-3 to years relevant working experience

e) Age Bracket:
Between 30 and 40 years
I) Tenure:
Four year contract renewable upon satisfactory performance
