WellShare International is an international U.S. based non-governmental organization headquartered in Minneapolis,Minnesota whose mission is to improve the health of women, children and their communities around the world. WellShare is currently implementing the PMI fund Uganda Malaria Communities Partnership, PEPFAR funded Partnering for PositiveLivelihoods Project, and the USAID funded Uganda Child Spacing Program in Uganda. WellShare is recruiting for the following position:

OPERATIONS MANAGER, KAMPALA

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Provides organizational leadership in financial, administrative, and logistical management and supports the Country Director in human resources and sub-grant management. Leads organizational operations in Uganda. Contributes to achievement of organizational mission by assuring integrity, accountability, and compliance. Deputizes the Uganda Country Director.

LOCATION: This position is based in Kampala with periodic travel to Well Share’s field sites in the Central and West Nile regions of Uganda,

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
• Minimum five years experience executing operational, administrative and financial duties for an international non governmental organization.
• Master's degree in Business Administration,
Project Administration/Management, Accounting, or related field.
• Significant experience managing accounting systems for an international non governmental organization.
• Experience developing and tracking budgets for complex projects; experience managing budgets for USAID funded programs desired.
• Knowledge of USG rules and regulations.
• Understanding of foreign tax issues for international organizations, including VAT.
• Comprehensive understanding and experience in the application of best practices to operational issues.
• Demonstrated ability to produce high quality written documents, including reports to line managers, senior management, and project stakeholders.
• Advanced computer skills, including the ability to type quickly and to use Microsoft Office products [Excel essential), email, and Internet.
• Knowledge and experience in QuickBooks Accounting software is essential.
• Demonstrated leadership and/or supervisory experience.
• Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Strong commitment to improve the health of the community.
• Fluent in English [written and spoken].

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Implement best practices for organizational systems, ensures compliance with organizational and donor policies, including financial, operational and personnel. Ensures financial integrity and accountability, directs the organizations' accounting and reporting operations, prepares and remits financial reports, manages day to day financial systems and activities, establishes operations procedures and manages procurement and facilities. Provides overall operational technical support to field staff, supervises Kampala office staff, demonstrates a high level of integrity, transparency and accountability.
