Uganda Management Institute: QUALITY ASSURANCE OFFICER

UGANDA MANAGEMENT INSTITUTE

Uganda Management Institute (UMI) is a Management Development Institution with a mission "to excel in developing sustainable management capacity". It provides management training, consultancy and research services in response to the demands of the public, private, and MGO sectors. In addition to short performance improvement management skills development courses, the Institute offers high quality career development management courses at Certificate, Diploma, Postgraduate Diploma and Postgraduate Degree Levels. The institute's activities are currently carried out at the main campus in Kampala and its Outreach Centers in Mbarara and Gulu.

In order to carry out is functions efficiently and effectively, the Institute seeks to recruit suitably qualified persons in the following full time posts:

POST: QUALITY ASSURANCE OFFICER
LEVEL UM 4U,
Reports to Director General in the performance of the following duties and responsibilities:

(a) DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Initiating the Quality Assurance Strategy including:
(i) Initiating, drafting and reviewing policy guidelines on quality assurance for approval of Management.
(ii) Monitoring and evaluation the quality assurance strategies
(iii) Implementing quality assurance measures.

2. Enforcing the implementation of the National Council of Higher Education guidelines including :
(i) Conducting routine and continuous checking of Institute services and policies to ensure compliance with practice, standards, policy legislation regulations and guidelines.
(ii) Auditing operational services against expected standards and requirements across the full range of the Institute services.

3. Undertaking data analysis and research including:
(i) Reporting on findings and advising on remedial strategies.
(ii) Conducting quality assurance reviews of the services processes within the Institute and recommending how standard of services can be improved.
iii) Conducting audits of services for which there is need to improve standards as measured by performance indicators, to make recommendations about how performance can be improved.
(iv) Identifying where resource shortfalls are adversely affecting service provision or otherwise causing problems and making recommendations about priorities and solutions,
(v) Advising management of concerns or practice issues that may arise from undertaking


Quality Assurance reviews.
(b) PERSON SPECIFICATIONS:
(i) A relevant Bachelors (Hons) and Masters Degree in Curriculum Studies,
(ii) Possession of a PhD in Education or relevant are will be added advantage,
(iii) Four years experience in teaching curriculum and quality assurance studies at higher Education Institution.
(iv) Demonstrated knowledge of quality assurance measures and practices in higher Education Institutions,
(v)Candidates possessing relevant professional qualifications will have an added advantage,
(vi) Evidence of experience in supervision and evaluation of Postgraduate training programmes and students in a relevant area,

Successful candidates will, on being confirmed in appointment, be offered five-year renewable contracts, a competitive basic salary complemented by housing allowance, medical allowance, transport allowance and an attractive gratuity scheme.
