Reporting to: Program Officer Water Resources Development
Contract Duration: 1 Year (probation 6 months) renewable depending on performance and availability of funds
Commencement: Immediate (in whichever case not later that 1 month after the employment offer)

Background:
The Nile Basin Initiative/Nile Equatorial Lakes Subsidiary Action Program (NELSAP) has effective 2005 implemented the Kagera River Basin Transboundary Integrated Water Resources Management and development Project with grant financing from the Governments of Sweden and Norway and the World Bank. Burundi, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda participate and benefit from the project. The NELSAP now wishes to fill the vacant position of Project Manager in order to enhance project implementation capacity. The successful applicant is expected to provide overall project leadership, manage the Project Management Unit, coordinate project activities including, financial management, procurement, monitoring and evaluation, project reporting and ensuring timely project financial audits.

Qualifications and experience:
MSc in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering or Environmental Engineering with at least 7 years of practical experience in planning and implementation as well as project and contract management of complex water resources infrastructure projects at national or regional level.
