INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY ASSISTANT -UGANDA

The Aga Khan Foundation (AKF3, an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network, is a private, non-denominational development agency promoting creative and effective solutions to selected problems that impede social development in developing countries. AKF (East Africa) invites applications for the position of Information and Communications Technology Assistant, Uganda. The position is located in Kampala.

Key responsibilities and duties
Under direct supervision of the Executive Officer and technical guidance of the Regional IT Officer, the Information and Communications Technology Assistant will provide technical support to AKF Uganda country office and programmes including: strengthening and maintenance of ICT infrastructure; administering, configuring and managing Windows 2000/2003 Active Directory, user accounts and Trouble Shooting Domain controllers; configuring and managing File and Print Server; maintaining system integrity and security; diagnosing network problems and providing solutions; training users on standard computer applications; updating inventory of all computer software and equipment; backing up of all servers and individual user files.

Required qualification:
• At least a Diploma or equivalent professional qualifications in Information and Communications Technology;
• Working knowledge of routers, switches hubs, DNS, DHCP and WINS configuration;
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Windows environment, installation and management of Microsoft Windows 200O/20O3 Server, Internet Security and Acceleration CISA3 server and Microsoft Internet Information Server;
• Good knowledge of server hardware, workstations, printers and other peripherals;
• Knowledge of Financial Management Systems including iScala will be an added advantage;
• Knowledge of Microsoft SQL will be an added advantage.
