The Rural Electrification Agency (REA) is the Secretariat of the Rural Electrification Board (REB) as established by Statutory Instrument 2001 No. 75, The REB's main function is to oversee the management of the Rural Electrification Fund (REF) and facilitate the development and implementation of rural electrification projects under several sources of funding (i.e. Government of Uganda, World Bank under Energy for Rural Transformation, (ERT) project, S1DA, JICA, etc.,)
The REA now invites applications for die following posts:
Position: ICT SPECIALIST
Job Purpose: To manage and provide Hardware and Software maintenance, technical support and recommend future needs in the development of the Agency's Information and Communication Technology (ICT) resources.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide day-to-day ICT support and maintenance of REA's key ICT infrastructure
2. Manage ICT and computer systems, including budgets and expenditure
3. Support the maintenance of the REA website
4. Support REA's Email and Internet connectivity
5. Maintain current and accurate inventory of technology hardware, software and resources
6. Maintain a log and/or list of required repairs and maintenance
7. Develop and implement policies and procedures for computer systems operations
8. Develop standards, guidelines, and procedures for system development, implementation and management
9. Perform regular backups of REA's databases and information, ensuring that backup and recovery procedures and plan are in place and periodically updated
10. Provide basic staff training when needed
11. Perform any other related duties as may be assigned from time to time
Minimum qualification:
• Bachelor's Degree (Honors) in the area of Computing and Information Technology from a recognized Institution.
• Postgraduate qualification in Information Technology or Data Communications is a requirement
• Certifications like CCNA, MCP, MCSE are added advantage
Minimum experience:
Five (5) years hands on experience in maintenance and management of ICT operations in a reputable organization. You should possess the following:
• Proficient knowledge of Windows Server 2003 and Database Administration
• Proficient knowledge in SQL
• Knowledge of programming
• Thorough hands-on experience with Networking (LAN. WAN)
• Deep understanding of Information Security is a MUST
