Hospice Africa Uganda: Lecturer

Hospice Africa Uganda (HAU) is a non -governmental organization, whose role is to promote palliative care that includes pain and symptom control for patients living with cancer and HIV7A1DS. HAU strives to uphold excellent clinical standards and provides quality education and advocacy activities to promote palliative care availability to all throughout Uganda. HAU head office in Kampala and site offices in Mbarara and Hoima Districts.HAU wishes to recruit dynamic, skilled, and motivated person to fill the following positions at the head office in Kampala

Title: Lecturer
Supervisor: Director of Education
Duration: Two years Renewable

Job purpose:
To provide the palliative care raining to students on the distance Learning Bachelors degree and other short courses in the palliative care. The post holder is also expected to coach, mentor and supervise students on training programme at different levels.

Key responsibilities:
• Plans, implements and evaluate training courses assigned to him/her
• Participates in follow up, coaching and mentoring of trainees attending
• Supports and supervises the students in developing research/audit proposals and implementing research/audit projects. Sets assignments and examinations for students on the training programmes
• Participates in preparation of articles for HAU news letters and relevant reports.
• Participates in palliative care advocacy activities through organizing, implementing and where necessary representing Hospice in activities of stakeholder organizations
• Participates in operational research, education programme reviews and evaluation activities .Participates in identification and documentation of best practices
• Prepares narrative reports related to activities entrusted to him/her
• Participates in preparation of work plans and budgets for the education department
• Participates in planning and organization of Hospice and palliative care activities

Requirements:
Master's degree in medicine, nursing or any of the health related sciences.
At least 4 years teaching experience in a recognized health institution with a focus on HIV/AIDS and or Cancer. Experience in curricula and course materials development, adult learning methodology and research/ audit. Must have strong communication, and interpersonal skills; good organizational, and writing skills, good facilitation and presentation skills
