Nairobi Hospital: LECTURER, SENIOR ACCOUNTANT & SENIOR CREDIT CONTROL OFFICER

LECTURER REF: HRD/LEC/07/10
Reporting to the Principal, Cecily McDonnell School of Nursing, the successful candidate will take a lead role in developing competent nurses by providing integration of nursing theory and practice in the Bachelor of Science, Kenya Registered Nursing (KRN) and other basic and post–basic nursing education programmes.
Particular Responsibilities Include:
• Participating in curriculum development and review.
• Conducting theoretical and practical training.
• Organising lesson plans and teaching resources for learning programmes.
• Setting, moderating, administering and marking examinations.
• Participating in recruitment of students.
• Supervising students in both classroom and clinical set-up.
• Providing guidance and counselling to students.
• Participating in the development and review of procedures, policies and standards.
• Maintaining proper students’ records throughout training.
• Taking up departmental responsibilities in the absence of the Principal, School of Nursing and Principal Lecturers.
• Contributing to research, publication and professional conferences and workshops.

Qualifications and Experience:
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing or a Diploma in Advanced Nursing.
• 5 years work experience, 3 of which should have been in teaching.
• Experience in teaching, assessing and mentoring.
• Good counselling skills.

SENIOR ACCOUNTANT REF: HRD/SA /07/10
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the job holder will have the overall responsibility of providing comprehensive financial and management accounting services to departments within the division allocated.
These responsibilities include the preparation and management of annual budgets; analysing unit/
activity revenue, analysing costs and variances, evaluating profitability improvement and cost reduction programmes; monitoring achievement of savings targets, assisting the budget holders with the preparation of business plans and capital investment appraisals. He/She will also have the responsibility for efficient workflow of the outpatient financial and admission processes in the division.

Particular Responsibilities Include:
• Preparing and implementing the division’s budgets and special revisions; monitoring the division’s budgets and expenditures.
• Ensuring that operational and capitalexpenditure are appropriate by reviewing and comparing costs with industry standards.
• Supervising and reviewing the billing, revenue capture and expenditure function of the divisions.
• Ensuring a smooth closedown of accounts for month-end and year-end in liaison with other Senior Accountants and IT Department.
• Reviewing systems and procedures within the division to increase efficiency and to comply
with any new guidelines proposed by internal and external audit reports.
• Supervising the compilation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports for the divisions.
• Participating in regular stock takes, following up on resolution of variances and variance explanations and taking corrective action.
• Working closely with other managers in areas such as human resources, service development, business planning, service reviews and improvement of key performance indicators.
• Developing and conducting on the job training for finance staff in the Division.

Qualifications and Experience:
• CPA (K) and a Bachelor of Commerce degree majoring in accounting or its equivalent.
• IT Literate and proficiency in accounting software applications.
• Six (6) years progressive working experience in accounting with at least three of these at a senior level
• Expert knowledge of accounting, auditing and financial and management reporting.
• Considerable ability to establish solid working relationships with departmental managers and subordinates.
• Resilience and ability to work under pressure in an emergency setting.
• Experience in working with ERP systems.

SENIOR CREDIT CONTROL OFFICER REF: HRD/SCCO/07/10
Reporting to the Credit Controller, the job holder will be responsible for participating in ensuring effective debt collection of local, regional and international debt.
Particular Responsibilities Include:
• Ensuring Hospitals credit control policies and internal controls are adhered to.
• Participating in developing and maintaining efficient admission, discharge and transfer procedures.
• Participating in debt collection from local, regional and international companies and clients.
• Analyzing debtor’s information and data with the aim of enhancing credit control measures.
• Participating in facilitation of effective billing and revenue capture.
• Participating in overseeing key accounts and customer relationship management.
• Assisting the Credit Controller in ensuring stability of cash flows for operational and investment purposes.
• Participating in the preparation and writing of monthly, quarterly and annual financial and
management reports.
• Participating in the development of service level agreement and executing 3rd party contracts.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
• Business degree.
• CPA (K) or ACCA.
• A certificate in Credit Management.
• Five (5) years progressive working experience.
• Excellent negotiation skills.
