Madison Insurance: Chief Accountant

Chief Accountant:
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
· Ensuring that sound accounting principles and controls are applied to all financial transactions
· Planning, coordinating and supervising all the activities within Finance Department, including allocation of duties and staff appraisal.

· Preparation and presentation of periodical financial statements in due time, ensuring accuracy, completeness and conformance to reporting standards.
· Maintenance of a variety of financial records and reports, including those related to the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgets and fixed assets, investments;
· Ensuring compliance with all tax matters, including VAT, PAYE, withholding taxes and corporate tax, and timely submission of associated returns
· Co-ordinating the audit process, attending to audit queries and implementation of audit recommendations.
· Treasury management through close monitoring of company’s inflows and outflows, liaison with banks, cashflow reporting and forecasting.
· Provide leadership in the formulation and implementation of sound financial management policies and controls.
· Drive the budgetary and financial planning process and periodic review of actual results against budgets
· Ensure timely preparation of monthly management accounts and other reports as may be required from time to time.
· Ensure timely preparation and submission of periodic returns to the Insurance Regulatory Authority and other regulatory bodies.

REQUIREMENTS:
· B. Com (Accounting) Degree or Equivalent
· CPA (K) or Equivalent
· Over 7 years progressive experience in an Insurance Company
· Strong analytical and people management skills
· Ability to work in a demanding Office environment
