Hospice Africa Uganda (HAU) is a non -governmental organization, whose role is to promote palliative care that includes pain and symptom control for patients living with cancer and HIV7A1DS. HAU strives to uphold excellent clinical standards and provides quality education and advocacy activities to promote palliative care availability to all throughout Uganda. HAU head office in Kampala and site offices in Mbarara and Hoima Districts.HAU wishes to recruit dynamic, skilled, and motivated person to fill the following positions at the head office in Kampala
Job Title: Chief Executive Officer
Responsible to: Chairman HAU Board of Directors
Contract: Two years–Renewable contracts
Job purpose:
The Executive Officer is responsible for working together with the Board of Directors to ensure that HAU has a clear and compelling vision and strategic plan; and an effective system of strategic measurement and governance. He or she then bears the ultimate responsibility for ensuring that the organization is structured, organized, managed and controlled in such a way as to maximize achievement of that vision. The Executive Officer is responsible for all aspects of HAU's operational management; ensuring that standards of excellence are set and maintained in every sphere of activity. This includes forming and supporting a highly motivated team of staff, promoting HAU's work within Uganda and internationally, developing partner and donor relationships, supporting effective programme delivery and overseeing the organization's finances.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide leadership in organizational development, redesign and develop structures that ensure that the organization of HAU is fit for purpose.
• Lead, inspire and challenge a team of dedicated professionals and non-professionals, towards realization of HAU Mission.
• Works closely with other members of the External Relations team and other senior managers to develop and implement HAU strategic efforts to increase awareness and visibility of Palliative Care services in Uganda.
• Participates in the development of a cohesive, focused and effective advocacy and grant making strategy.
• Works with the Ministry of Health and networking organizations in Uganda to promote Palliative care services.
• Oversee and ensure that the management works in cohesive manner to support the operations of the HAU
• Promotes the mission and vision of HAU nationally and internationally
• Provides leadership in fund-raising and over sees the finance management of donor funding.
Requirements:
A Masters' Degree in a field related to Business Administration, Development Studies, Public Health or other related field. Experience in organizational development, skills in business administration, strategic planning, organizational development, donor liaisons, human resource and administration management and proficiency in networking and fundraising is a must. Excellent communication, interpersonal, reflective and team building skills also required. Knowledge and practical experience in developing quality low-cost educational (particularly instructional materials)
