Our client is a prominent law firm in Uganda that has been in existence for over 15 years; providing professional services in the areas of Adoption, Labour Law, Business Law, Copy Rights, Civil Litigation, Mediation, Non Profit Organizations, Trademarks and Real Estates; and wishes to recruit a young ambitious candidate to fill the position below.
JOB TITLE: ADVOCATE OF THE HIGH COURT
Job purpose: To reinforce the legal team of the firm and increase efficiency in client service
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Interviewing clients and witnesses as per company protocol
• Perusing client's documents for verification of information
• Preparing correspondences
• Preparing pleadings and representation of clients in Courts of Law
• Carrying out Legal research and preparing reports
• Drafting contracts and client follow ups
• Offering general legal advice to clients
• Other duties as may be assigned
Necessary Qualifications and skills:
• Upper Second Class Law Degree and PGD Legal Practice, and enrolled as an advocate; or
• Lower Second Class Law Degree and PGD Legal Practice if the applicant was among the best 10 students in the LDC Bar Course
• 1 year of court practice and not more than 5 years as an enrolled advocate
• Experience in litigation/court matters
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• High moral and ethical standards
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages
• Knowledge and communication in Luganda is an added advantage
• Not above 30 years of age
