African Wildlife Foundation (AWF): Project Officer - Jobs and Vacancies in Kenya

The African Wildlife Foundation (AWF), an international conservation organization invites applications for the post of Project Officer to provide support to the Kitengela Project Manager and the project team, to enable smooth and effective administration, coordination, communication and implementation of all aspects of AWF’s ongoing Kitengela Project.

This is a 9-month full-time position, based at AWF’s Headquarters in Nairobi.

The successful candidate would:
• Provide coordinating and administrative support to the Kitengela Project Team as directed by the
Project Manager.
• Help coordinate and follow up on project activities under components implemented by Project partners.
• Act as liaison point between Project partners, the, Field Coordinator and Project Consultants to ensure
timely implementation of projects.
• Track project activities to ensure they are progressing as per schedule.
• Coordinate and organize stakeholder and team meetings, and serve as secretary of said meetings.
• Maintain Project calendar, budget and ensure deadlines are met.
• Take responsibility for implementing an aspect(s) of the project as appropriate according to experience
and expertise as determined in consultation with Project Manager.
• Draft reports to USAID.
• Draft internal reports and inter-staff communications.

Key skills, abilities and experience
• A university degree in business Administration, Project Management or related
• Project Management certification an added advantage
• A minimum of 4 years work experience consistent with the types of duties outlined above
• Demonstrated experience liaising with multiple audiences/ stakeholders from government level to
grassroots level
• Experience in USAID-funded project work an added advantage
• Computer literacy – ability to work effectively in Word, Internet and Excel software
• Knowledge of / exposure to legal processes and/or government protocols an advantage
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to take initiative and to work with minimal supervision
• Good organizational aptitude
• Possess the flexibility to assess and react appropriately to changing circumstances
• Ability to pay attention to detail and coordinate multiple tasks at once
• Ability to meet strict deadlines
