PROGRAMME COORDINATOR- HIV and AIDS workplace programme in Uganda

The Agency for Cooperation and Research in Development (ACORD), an Africa led International NGO working on development and Social Justice in Africa, seeks to recruit a Programme Coordinator for its evolving programme on Managing HIV and AIDS in the workplaces in Uganda. In the new phase, the primary aim of this programme is to facilitate about 80 CSOs, selected Microfinance institutions and Cooperative Associations to develop and implement comprehensive HIV/AIDS workplace policies, and ensure synergy within the different projects that constitute this programme.

The main functions of this post include, but are not limited to: Providing strategic direction and leadership to the programme; Programme Coordination; Programme Administration; technical assistance on HIV/AIDS workplace policies and programmes; Reporting and communication with the donors and the implementing local CSOs; Monitoring and Evaluation; Fundraising; Collaboration and Networking; Lobbying and Advocacy; and Representation.

Job responsibilities:
Provide the overall strategic and operational leadership to the programme staff and ensure team work
Coordinate and report on the development, progress, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the programme
Provide overall administration of the programme
Responsible for internal and external communication on programme matters
Responsible for collaboration and networking with other stakeholders
Coordinate and lead fundraising processes from both local and international donors
Responsible for establishing links with Government, private sector, National and international donors and other stakeholders
Responsible for lobbying and advocacy
Facilitate the collaboration, linking and learning between the participating organizations, and other related ACORD projects.
Prepare programme reports for the donors and other stakeholders
Conduct visits to partners to monitor the programme implementation and provide technical support where necessary.
Organize and participate in partners' capacity building and learning events


Qualifications and Experience
Minimum Masters Degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies and or Public Health.
Atleast 5 years experience in programme development, including monitoring and evaluation of HIV/AIDS interventions;
Experience in participatory research and training methodologies;
Advocacy skills;
Very good analytical and strategic thinking skills
Good written and oral communication skills;Computer literacy;
Technical experience in HIV/AIDS at the workplace, Gender and development;
Willingness to travel extensively within Uganda.
Experience in interacting with multi sector institutions

Salary: An attractive remuneration package will be offered in accordance with ACORD's salary scale for similar positions.

Duty station: Kampala Contract: 2 years (with a probation period of 3 months)
