Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (Uganda): Farmer Field School Facilitator

Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund [ASB - Workers' Samaritan Federation] is an international non-profit, non-denominational NGO, working in the development and relief sector. Ever since the founding of ASB in 1888, humanitarian and democratic principles have been at the foundation of its work, both abroad and at home. ASB activities in Uganda started in 2005 with branch offices in Kampala, Lira, Pader, Katakwi and Amuria. Activities range from Food Security and Agriculture Livelihood projects, in Oyam,Apach, Katakwi and Pader Districts; Child Protection in Lango, Teso and Karamoja sub-regions;protect ion and Camp Management/Camp Phase Out (CCCM/CPO) in Pader and Teso regions.

To support our activities in Uganda, ASB is looking to recruit committed Ugandan nationals for the following positions:

Farmer Field School Facilitator

The farmer field school (FFS) will be responsible for the establishment and running of new farmer field schools through experiential learning methods, training, capacity building and effective supervision
• Ensuring effective sensitization of project stakeholders and beneficiaries
• Carry out ground working activities, mapping, of villages and selection of beneficiary groups
• Guide the identified beneficiaries through the FFS formalization process, i.e. strengthening of group constitutions, leadership
•structure, by-laws, registration with the community development office and opening up of bank accounts
• Facilitate the group action planning process and identify the appropriate Learning activities to be integrated into the season-long training schedule.

Essential requirements:
• A Diploma in agriculture
• Minimum of 2 years experience in implementation of food security intervention at the community level
• Fluency in English and local language [preferably Ateso, Luo and NgaKaramojong]
