Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund [ASB - Workers' Samaritan Federation] is an international non-profit, non-denominational NGO, working in the development and relief sector. Ever since the founding of ASB in 1888, humanitarian and democratic principles have been at the foundation of its work, both abroad and at home. ASB activities in Uganda started in 2005 with branch offices in Kampala, Lira, Pader, Katakwi and Amuria. Activities range from Food Security and Agriculture Livelihood projects, in Oyam,Apach, Katakwi and Pader Districts; Child Protection in Lango, Teso and Karamoja sub-regions;protect ion and Camp Management/Camp Phase Out (CCCM/CPO) in Pader and Teso regions.
To support our activities in Uganda, ASB is looking to recruit committed Ugandan nationals for the following positions:
Engineer for Roads Construction
• To ensure the smooth and effective operations of a road rehabilitation and storage construction project as per the Sub Agreement in Teso Region
• Mobilization and sensitization of local communities and authorities on project activities
• Carrying out preliminaries and detail survey of roads to be rehabilitated
• In collaboration with the District Engineer, train Project Management Committees on technical standards of roads rehabilitation and storage facilities before actual commencement of work
• Attend Roads Coordination Meeting, Land task force community meetings and any other relevant meetings as assigned by the Supervisor
• Prepares detailed activities and implementation work plans for targeted road
Essential requirements:
• A diploma or degree in civil engineeeirng
• Fluency in English and local language [preferably Ateso]
• 2 years experience in the related field and in an NGO.
