Pharmaceutical Society of Uganda: Operations Manager

The Pharmaceutical Society of Uganda was established by the Pharmacy and Drugs Act, 1970, and is governed by the Council of the Pharmaceutical Society of Uganda whose responsibility is to ensure the highest practicable standards in the practice of Pharmacy in Uganda.

In order to formulate a clear, future long-term strategy, the society invites applications from competent persons for the post of Operations Manager. The officer shall be serving under the overall direction of the Secretary to the Council of the Pharmaceutical Society of Uganda. The job will be on a two-year renewable contract with initial six months probation

Key duties and responsibilities:
• Liaise with MoH, MAAIF and other stakeholders in the Health and Veterinary sectors to support timely development and dissemination of policy and programme guidance related to pharmacy and help organize and document the outcome of programmes and technical review meetings.
• Provide technical pharmacy support to the training, monitoring and evaluation, and documentation teams, to ensure consistency in PSU support to the pharmaceutical sector and consistency with set guidelines.
• Spearhead technical activity planning, identifying capacity gaps, and facilitate training and other means of enhancing capacity, capacity building and monitoring.
• Draw clear guidelines and an implementation strategy for support supervision in the country.
• Ensure that training and practice of pharmacy in the country meet statutory requirements and are in accordance with Pharmacy Profession and Practice Standards.
• Any other duties that may be assigned by the secretary time to time.

Qualifications, knowledge, skills and experience:
The Candidate should possess at least; A BPharm degree and a post graduate qualification in a management related field from a recognized institution and be a member of the society with 3 (three) years post registration active experience.

The Candidate should:
* Be highly self-motivated, able to work independently.
* Have excellent communication skills and be fluent in both oral and written English.
