ChildFund Uganda seeks to recruit a suitably qualified, self motivated and hard working candidate for the position of Program Director.

The Programme Director will be a member of the Senior. Management Team responsible for leading the development, implementation and reporting of ail programs. S/he will ensure that ChildFund develops strong civil society partners to deliver sustainable, responsive and legitimate child protection and development programs. S/he will also take the lead in establishing, monitoring and evaluating tools to help measure ChildFund's progress towards its core outcomes. Resource mobilization to support ChildFund's programs is a central function of this role.

The position reports to the Country Director and supervises program support staff at the National Office and Grants Managers and Area Managers located in various field stations.

Tasks and Responsibilities:
Spearheading program development and management
* Establishes and cultivates good relationships with existing and potential donors, government's line ministries and other actors in Child development and protection;
* Coordinates with other departments such as Finance, Operations and Sponsor Relations to ensure efficient utilization of resources and delivery of quality programs;
* Leads ChildFund grant acquisition and grant management efforts;
* Leads the development process of the country strategy paper;
* Ensures that ChildFund's values, core intent, global strategy and CSP and priority concerns are understood by all staff and partners and reflected in program design and management;
* Manages program staff performance and development.

Qualifications and Experience:
* Minimum of 10 years working experience of which at least 4 years should be in a similar position; in community development, program management, preferably in an international NGO setting using community based approaches.
* Demonstrable experience in strategic planning;
* Proven experience sourcing and managing grants from major donors, training, presentation, facilitation, capacity building, documentation and reporting;
* Proven management experience of professional staff; suitably qualified, self motivated and hard working candidate for the position of
* Bachelor's degree in Development Studies/Public Health or closely related area; 'Master's degree in Public Health, Project Management or International Development is desirable;
* Extensive computer proficiency is a must

Required Knowledge, Skills and Attributes:
* Highly developed analytical and communication skills
* Ability to assimilate and process information on a wide range of issues
* Goal oriented with strong track record of initiating, promoting and implementing strategic change management
* Ability to manage multi-sectoral interventions efficiently
*Ability to coordinate with various stakeholders including program staff, partners, communities and government officials
* Strong networking, advocacy and lobbying skills
* Ability to make decisions and solve complex problems
* A good understanding of generally accepted internal controls and financial reporting
* Ability to provide strong leadership for a multi-talented team
