Kenya Tourist Board: Jobs and Vacancies in Kenya

Kenya Tourist Board (KTB) is a State Corporation whose mandate is to market Kenya as a tourist destination both locally and internationally. We invite qualified Kenyans to apply for the following positions:

Regional Marketing Manager

One (1) Post

Purpose: To coordinate the development and implementation of Marketing strategies in the designated region in line with KTB’s overall marketing plan.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the region’s marketing strategy and provide strategic direction to the region’s team;
  • Prepare and monitor regional budgets;
  • Ensure timely and efficient implementation of regional marketing strategy and Annual Work Plan (AWP) and ensure that regional performance targets are set and achieved;
  • Identify process improvements that reduce cost, improve quality and allow for the more efficient usage of organizational resources in the region;
  • Mentor, coach and provide leadership to the regional team;
  • Gather continuous market intelligence on the region’s performance, customer and trade attitudes
  • Spearhead the region’s tourism improvements to meet changing market needs.

Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Be a holder of Bachelor’s Degree in marketing
  • Should have a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing; CIM or related qualification
  • MBA degree will be considered as an added advantage
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Team playing skills
  • Strong leadership and management skills;
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Member of a recognized professional marketing or management Body
  • At least 5 years experience in the marketing field with 3 years in a senior management role in a large organization.

Relationship with other jobs:

  • Reports to the Director of Marketing.

Assistant Regional Marketing Manager

Five (5) Posts

Purpose: To identify actual and potential tourist market opportunities within the source markets and develop appropriate marketing strategies and activities to effectively exploit the opportunities in line with KTB’s overall marketing plan.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enlist key stakeholders and manage registration of participants and KTB’s representatives for planned marketing activities in liaison with the Market Development Representatives, Exhibitions and other related Department
  • Implement the region’s marketing strategy
  • Ensure that regional performance targets are achieved
  • Utilize the region’s tourism market intelligence reports to improve the brand’s performance, customer and trade attitudes in order to enhance performance of the tourism sector within the region
  • Keep abreast of and document competitive activities within the region and design appropriate strategies to maintain a competitive edge
  • Coordinate the development of market specific collateral material; and • Formulate educational trips for media, customers and travel trade in line with the marketing plan.

Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Be a holder of Bachelor’s Degree in marketing
  • Should have a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing; CIM or related qualification
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Willing to share knowledge with others for the benefit of KTB and a team player
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Member of a recognized professional marketing or management Body
  • Possess 3-5 years related experience in a busy marketing environment with at least 1 year at middle management level

ICT Officer – Business Systems

One (1) Post

Purpose: The position is responsible for maintaining efficient and effective ICT business systems as well as providing user support. Responsible for delivering and maintaining efficient and effective software applications to KTB.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working with users to define system outputs such as reports and forms, to build, document, deploy and maintain them.
  • Testing of changes to systems and definition of testing plans, document the changes, brief users and input to training plans.
  • Ensuring that documentation is kept up to date to reflect all changes, upgrades etc.
  • Carry out system administration tasks as required including the review and maintenance of system access rights & security
  • Support the effective integration of systems e.g. SAP, Inspiro , Crystal Reports and other applications etc
  • Change Management which will require the holder to understand the impact of changes on existing processes or systems, to make recommendations on required actions and brief colleagues as appropriate
  • Enhancement of database performance through management of requisite parameters to provide fast responses to queries by users.
  • Work closely with internal customers and external partners to develop and maintain custom and third-party database applications.
  • Developing of Operating System/Database backup and recovery procedures.
  • Implement a secure ICT infrastructure that will ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of KTB’s information and information assets;
  • Plan, coordinate and monitor the distribution of client/server software and service packs
  • Handle end user support as required;

Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Information Technology or Computer Science; ICT professional certification in systems engineering, database management, or application development. e.g. MCSD, MCDBA,
  • SAP Business One certification
  • At least 2 years experience in user support, implementation procedures and problem resolution.
  • Team player and strong leadership and management skills;
  • Knowledge of HCL (Hardware Compatibility Library), Service Packs, updates etc.; and
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills
  • Ability to interpret written requirements and technical specification documents
  • At least 1 year experience in: SAP Business one, Crystal Report writing, Software development or database design experience.

  • Reports to the ICT Manager

Cashier

One (1) Post

Purpose: Responsible for receiving, receipting and banking all funds

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pay authorized petty expenditures
  • Processing of cheques
  • Receive and act as custodian of cash and cheques and ensure their prompt banking
  • Hold the float of office petty cash
  • Invoice company debtors
  • Submission of all statutory deductions
  • Receive, receipt and bank all cash and cheques; and
  • Serve as KTB’s banking agent.

Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (‘O’ Level) – KCSE C Plain (Credit in Maths)
  • Certified Public Accountant Part II
  • Excellent interpersonal, management and communication skills;
  • A person of high integrity
  • Excellent organization skills and highly confidential;
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with standard office computer applications; and
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • 1 year experience in a busy accounts office

Relationship with other jobs:

  • Reports to the Financial Accountant
