Access Kenya Group Ltd: Pre/Post- Sales engineer

Access Kenya Group Ltd is looking to fill the post of Pre/Post- Sales engineer. The incumbent will provide a high level of technical consultancy to bid or proposal processes, support Account Managers and provide an interface for the customer in regard to all technical issues in the sales cycle.

Key responsibilities may include:
* Provide technical and sales support for accounts in assigned territory.
* Perform technical presentations for customers and prospects.
* Actively probe customers for technical needs on sales opportunities.
* Assist with the development of formal sales plans and proposals for assigned opportunities.
* Mentor and provide training for new members of the engineering organization.
* Identifying opportunities to drive more value from an organization’s IT strategy through technology strategies in targeted areas, including technology infrastructure (overall as well as security, networks, and desktop) and technology architecture (overall as well as mobility, portals, and information management)
* Ensuring technology requirements will allow modeling and address performance and security
* Ensuring high level design supports a robust technology solution, taking into account the user requirements, technical requirements, etc. (e.g., solution architecture)
* Planning and managing technology design activities
* Being recognized as an expert on one or more technology vendors/products/areas
* Leading the technology evaluation and selection effort
* Planning and managing program-wide technology build, test and deployment activities
* Being an expert in troubleshooting and performance tuning one or more technology products
* Consult on, identify and translate the customers’ technical requirements into a solution that is technically feasible and is commercially viable.

Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:

* Minimum of 3 years implementing and/or operating Data Center environments.
* Minimum of 3 years of technical pre-sales experience.
* Minimum of 3 years working on server platforms and operating systems – Must have experience with Microsoft and Linux.
* Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in IT or a related field

Preferred Skills:
* Good overall knowledge of Storage technologies in the area of SAN, NAS, and Archiving.
* Experience with backup technologies.
* Virtualization and partitioning techniques, such as VMware, Hyper-V, and Xen, as well as, Solaris Containers and IBM virtualization.
* Consulting experience is highly desired.
* Experience with Sun Solaris and other OS variants.
* Service and Delivery management – automated provisioning techniques.

Professional Skill Requirements:
* Proven ability to build, manage, and foster a team-oriented environment.
* Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment.
* Desire to work in an information systems environment.
* Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
* Excellent leadership and management skills.
* Can work with minimal supervision and is a self starter. Candidate should possess the ability to take a pre-qualified opportunity, undertake exploratory meetings with the sales director and the client in order to drive a solution, proposal, and to close the deal.
* Consultative – needs to be able to work in a consultative manner to address client requirements and work collaboratively on a target solution.
* Written capabilities – Ability to use Word and PowerPoint in order to articulate the proposed solution and proposal.
