Uganda Law Society: HEAD OF DEPARTMENT FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION

The Uganda Law Society (ULS) is a statutory membership organization established by an act of parliament to provide services to its membership and the people of Uganda in general. Its mission is to improve the professional standards of members of the rule of law by assisting the government and the judiciary in the administration and practice of law in Uganda for the benefit of the people of Uganda.

The Society is seeking a qualified and experienced individual to fill the following position;

POST: HEAD OF DEPARTMENT FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATION
Salary Scale LS 2 of Uganda Law Society
Responsibilities:
• Providing leadership, management and supervision of the Department of Finance and Administration.
• Coordinating the functions of Finance, Accounts, harmoniously support the work of the Uganda Law Society.
• Advising the Executive Director and the Executive and Administration procedures within Uganda Law Society.
• Ensuring that proper books of Accounts are kept and financial information extracted on a regular basis.
• Coordinating the budgeting process in liaison with other departments.
• Monitoring and evaluating the performance of the department as a whole.
• Preparing end of year final accounts and ensuring that they are audited as is required. Developing and maintaining the Uganda Law Society asset register.
• Ensuring that equipment and machinery of the Uganda Law Society is well maintained and serviced regularly goods and services as well as disposal of assets is in place and adhered to all times support to the other departments.
• Identifying opportunities and needs within the department to facilitate planning and networking.
• Compiling and providing monthly status and activity reports of the department to the Executive Director and the Council.
• Any other lawful duties as may be assigned by the Executive Director.

• Familiarity with complex financial reporting
• Strong skills and experience in QuickBooks
• Integrity, confidentiality and the ability to accomplish tasks promptly with minimum supervision.

Qualification :
• Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
• A professional CPA/ACCA is an added advantage.
• Management experience of a sizable departmental team
