National Housing Corporation: Jobs and Vacancies in Kenya

The National Housing Corporation is in the process of establishing a Factory for the production of Expanded Polystyrene building panels with the objective of addressing cost effective production and timely development of housing projects.

To achieve this end the Corporation invites applications from suitably qualified Kenyan citizens to fill the following positions in the EPS Factory.

The Management team and key personnel will be responsible for putting up structures and co-ordination of functions aimed at ensuring sustained efficiency in the production of EPS building panels as well as overseeing implementation of growth strategies.

General Manager:

The General Manager will be responsible to the Managing Director (NHC) for providing overall leadership and oversight to the operations of the EPS Factory. He/she will be responsible for fostering a corporate culture that promotes ethical practices and good corporate governance in the Factory.

His/Her role will be in the areas of planning, coordinating and organizing material and Human Resources of the Factory and maintaining relations with customers and clients. He/She will also be responsible for the execution of commercial contracts and ensuring that the facility operates within the approved budgetary provisions.

Job Requirements.

The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, Architecture or Quantity Surveying from a recognized University.
  • At least 10 years relevant experience.
  • Registered with a relevant professional body.
  • Must be an effective communicator with good interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Must be Computer literate
  • A Masters degree in Business Administration or equivalent will be an added advantage.

Production Engineer (Factory Manager)

The Factory Manager will be responsible to the General Manager and will be in charge of ensuring the efficient production of quality EPS panels and maintenance of plant and equipment. He /she will oversee all industrial production processes, plant operations and supervision of workers.

Job Requirements:

The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from a recognized University.
  • At least 5 years structural design experience
  • Registered with the Engineers Registration Board as an Engineer
  • Must be Computer literate in use of AutoCAD
  • Working knowledge of other Engineering design software e.g. Prokon, Eaglepoint, STAAD etc.

Engineer (Organizational Planning, Control & Design)

The Engineer will report to the General Manager and will be responsible for all planning, design and quality control aspects of Factory processes. The Engineer will report to the General Manager.

His principal duties include undertaking of all planning activities including costing of projects, Technical drawings and design work, in addition to ensuring quality control in the Factory is adhered to in accordance with the set standards.

Job Requirements:

The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from a recognized University.
  • At least 5 years structural design experience
  • Registered with the Engineers Registration Board as an Engineer
  • Must be Computer literate in use of AutoCAD
  • Working knowledge of Engineering design software e.g. Prokon, Eaglepoint, STAAD etc.

Human Resource Officer II (Administration)

Reporting to the General Manager, the Human Resource Officer II (Adm) will be responsible for all Human Resource issues, which include development and putting into practice sound Human Resource administrative strategies aimed at enhancing efficiency and effectiveness in work performance at the EPS Factory.

Job Requirements:

The ideal candidate must possess the following qualifications: -

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences from a recognized University.
  • Be in possession of at least a postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management.
  • Have 3 years experience in the area of Human Resource Management.
  • Be a member of the Institute of Human Resource Management (K) or the Kenya Institute of Management.
  • Be computer literate.

Accountant (Financial Accounting)

Reporting to the General Manager, the Accountant (Financial Accounting) will be responsible for all financial accounting aspects in the Factory including preparation of timely and accurate financial accounts, budgets as well as annual financial statements.

Job Requirements:

The ideal candidate should possess the following Qualifications: -

  • A Bachelor of Commerce degree (Accounting/ Finance option) from a recognized University or its accepted equivalent.
  • A holder of CPA (K) or its accepted equivalent.
  • A registered Accountant and a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya.
  • Three years experience as an Accountant
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Must be mature, confident and a good communicator.

Commercial & Marketing Officer

Reporting to the General Manager, the Commercial and Marketing Officer will be responsible for all marketing aspects in the Factory Including overseeing the formulation of appropriate marketing strategies and tactical execution including pricing and selection of market segments.

Job Requirements:

The ideal candidate should possess the following Qualifications: -

  • A Bachelor of Commerce degree (Marketing option) from a recognized University or its accepted equivalent.
  • A post graduate diploma in Marketing or Sales.
  • A member of relevant professional body.
  • At least six years experience in Marketing with proven track record.
  • Have good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be computer literate.

Technician Engineer (Electro Welded Mesh Line Production)

Reporting to the Factory Manager, the Technician Engineer will be responsible for the following: -

  • Interpreting Civil and Structural designs.
  • Undertaking of actual Panels Production processes in the workshop
  • Measurements and mixing of raw materials to conform with set standards.
  • Supervision of Artisans and Craftsmen
  • Controlling the assembly line and works- in- progress.
  • Maintenance of assembly equipment and machinery.
  • Ensuring general cleanliness of the work areas in the workshop.

Job Requirements:

The ideal candidate should possess the following Qualifications: -

  • Higher Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • 5 years experience working in a production Factory
  • Must be registered as a Technician Engineer by the Engineers Registration Board (ERB)
  • Basic electrical engineering and electronics knowledge
  • Must be computer literate

The above positions are on a three (3) years renewable contract and the successful candidates will be subject to performance contracting.
