KCB BANK UGANDA LTD: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR - KCB BANK UGANDA LTD.
JOB REF No. KCBUG 01/2010

Reporting to the Managing Director, KCB Uganda and Board of KCB Bank Uganda, the position will support and deputize the Managing Director in the overall strategy formulation and implementation of astute leadership and management style in line with the Bank's vision and values. In addition, the role holder may be required to hold a substantial function head position in the Bank leadership.
• The Executive Director is an appointee of the Board of KCB Bank Uganda Ltd whose primary role is to ensure good corporate governance in management of the Bank as per the four eye principle prescribed by the Bank of Uganda in the FIA 2004.

Key responsibilities:
• Participate with the Executive and the Board in developing the Mission and Strategic Goals for the Bank.
• The position has sight of the implementation and monitoring of all new initiatives originating from the Managing Director and the Board by directing the implementation of annual and long-term goals and objectives.
• In liaison with the Managing Director, plan, direct and coordinate the operations of the Bank's business including and ensuring the necessary policies and procedures and management structures are in place as well as use of both human and physical resources are effectively deployed.
• Drive business development and execution of growth strategies in accordance with the long, medium and short term goals.
• Support business growth through encouraging a culture of embracing change, introduction of innovative products and quality Customer Service.
• Ensure the control environment is robust with an enterprise wide risk management framework in place.
• Maintain oversight to ensure high levels of internal and external regulatory and risk compliance standards.
• Foster a strong and robust relationship with key stakeholders of the Bank being shareholders, customers, regulators and the community.
• Support the preparation of comprehensive regular performance updates to all stakeholders.
• Attract, develop and retain a competent workforce and create an Employer of Choice environment in the Bank.

The person:
In order to be considered for the above position, all applicants should have:-
• A University degree from a recognized university in a relevant field, preferably with an MBA or other relevant postgraduate qualification.
• Professional Banking qualification or equivalent.
• Minimum 10 years proven working experience in Banking, five of which must be in a Senior Management role.
• Prior experience heading a function in Credit, Finance and Treasury will be an added advantage.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to manage strategy, change, diversity, financial performance, productivity, championing customer focus and in managing people in multi-cultural environments.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to network and develop strong business relations.
• Innovative in identifying and harnessing new and existing opportunities to maximize business,
• A thorough knowledge of Banking products, services, and extensive Banking Industry knowledge.
• Sound knowledge of the business environment and operating dynamics of Uganda and the East African region.
