Africa 2000 Network -Uganda (A2N-Uganda) is a National Non-Governmental Organization - NGO that has been operating in Uganda since 1990 working with smallholder farmers to alleviate poverty. The organization espouses integrity, openness, equality, equity, unity, peace and harmony in its operations and carries out interventions to transform smallholder households peasantry farming into modern market-oriented farming using sustainable techniques and participatory approaches.
The organization is seeking a Senior Management staff, who is mature, highly responsible, credible, trustworthy, self-motivated and innovative for a position based in Kampala to serve as: -
Position: Finance Manager
This is a position that requires a committed, versatile and innovative team player
QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE AND PROFILE:
i, B. Com or BBA (Accounting option) or equivalent
ii. Full Professional Accounting qualifications i.e. ACCA, CPA or equivalent
iii,Should be conversant with at least two Accounting packages and knowledge of QuickBooks shall be an added advantage,
iv. At least Five years in financial management position preferably with an NGO/CSO
v. Should have extensive knowledge of Donor Reporting requirements and management of donor funds
vi. Knowledge of international accounting standards and practices.
Should be able to articulate and explain them
vii. Must be an individual who is goal oriented and driven individually, who thrives on taking on responsibility and achieving results both independently and as part of a team
viii. Excellent reporting, communication and presentation skills. Knowledge of the relevant computer packages shall be an advantage,
ix. Ability to work under pressure with the minimum supervision yet ensuring accuracy of high quality of output conforming to internal and external deadlines.
x. Proven management and leadership skills with ability to lead and ensure production of results
xi. Sound and objective judgment and ability to plan and organize own work and others efficiently.
xii. Adequate understanding of the civil society sector in Uganda and how they work
SPECIFIC TASKS AND AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
* Reporting to the Executive Director
* Substantive Head of Finance Department
* Manage and maintain high quality accounting records and systems
* Produce timely financial reports to Management, Donors and the Board of Directors.
* Produce regular and timely management accounts to Senior Management, the Board and staff
* Ensure compliance to A2N-Uganda internal policies/guidelines
* Ensure adherence to statutory regulations
* In coordination with the Programmes Team, produce annual organizational and departmental budgets
* Update internal controls and ensure compliance
* Ensure periodic spot checks and internal audits
* Maintain and manage the Assets Register
* Supervise and build capacity of Accounting staff
* Coordinate both external and internal audits.
* Provide financial and accountability guidelines to the staff
* Organize and train staff in financial management
* Any other duties as specified by the supervisor
