World Vision Kenya: Project Support Assistant – (Public Health & Nutrition)

World Vision is a Christian relief, development and advocacy organization dedicated to working with children, families and communities to overcome poverty and injustice.

World Vision East Africa wishes to urgently recruit a highly competent and proactive person to fill the following vacant position.

Project Support Assistant – (Public Health & Nutrition)

Region: East Africa Regional Office – Nairobi
Office: Global Health and WASH
Reports to: Director for MCH and Nutrition in Global Health & Wash
Contract Type: Temporary
Contract Duration: 4 months

Purpose of position:

This role will provide project support assistance to the Director for Maternal & Child Health (MCH) and the Nutrition and HIV Emergencies Advisor based in East Africa Regional Office (EARO), Westlands, Kenya

Major Responsibilities:

* Assist team with research related to MCH, Nutrition and HIV as requested such as literature review.
* Compile quarterly and annual activity reports for the MCH and Nutrition team.
* Provide administrative support for events such as workshops, webex and conference calls. These include but are not limited to liaising with hotels/venues, organizing logistics, writing reports.
* Provide support to the team with developing materials by assisting with TORs for consultants, time keeping, liaising with procurement and finance.
* Provide administrative support such as publishing, printing, binding, scanning, faxing technical and project documents.

* Analytical and critical thinking skills to identify problems and develop innovative solutions.
* Strong organizational skills, independent judgment, and the ability to be flexible as the demands and priorities change.
* Self-starter with ability to operate effectively under stress.
* Ability to make judgments and decisions that may impact the office, and provide technical advice.
* Must be able to divide his/her attention between parallel or similar tasks
* Strong interpersonal skills, as well as written and verbal communication skills, adaptability and flexibility required.
* Must be a committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities.
* Attend and participate in daily devotions and weekly Chapel services.
* Must comply with set Security Standards
* Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience:

The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:

* University Degree in Public Health/ Nutrition (or related or transferable field of study required in related field desired).
* Must have computer aptitude and experience in database management, spreadsheet software and Internet usage. Proficient using Word, Excel, Power Point, or similar programs; email systems; extensive website and on-line skills.
* Good writing skills in English.
* 1 year of experience in project management and/or administrative responsibilities is preferable.

Working Environment / Conditions:

* Work environment: Office-based
* Travel: 10% Domestic travel is expected.
