broadcom: IT Support Technician

We are looking for an all-round person to join our IT team in providing exceptional levels of support to our users and assist in the management of the day to day operations of the company’s IT and communications infrastructure.

The IT Support Technician will be reporting to the IT manager.

The Role:

* Installation, configuration and maintenance of Windows Server 2008, Linux Oss, Windows XP and Windows 7 machines
* Day to day operations management of SQL Server 2008
* Monitor and manage the company’s LAN and WAN and VPN connections in all aspects of availability, performance, stability and security
* Provide first line technical support to local and remote users

* Demonstrate good organizational skills with a methodical and logical approach to problems
* Excellent inter-personal and communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels
* Positive and helpful approach and attitude with an appreciation of different users IT skills
* A high level of commitment with a flexible approach and attitude to working hours
* Keep abreast of new developments in software and hardware

Skills & Qualifications:

* Degree in IT/Computer Science or equivalent
* At least 3 years working experience in an IT support role
* Any one of the following: MCSE or Linux Administration Certification
* An excellent all round working knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems and Microsoft Office Packages
* Experience of working within a TCP/IP Ethernet network environment
* An excellent all round working knowledge of Debian based OS
* An excellent working knowledge of machine and application virtualization
* Professional certificates in CCNA/MCSE/Linux Administration will be an added advantage
