Kenya Institute of Management: Jitihada Project Manager

The Kenya Institute of Management - a leading not-for-profit (NGO Kenya) membership-based management and business development organization through the Centre for Enterprise Development (CED) on behalf of the Ministry of Industrialization is running a National Business Plan Competition for Micro, Small and Medium enterprises (MSMEs).

The Project known as "Jitihada" will run for 1 year and is part of a World Bank funded five year project on MSMEs in Kenya.

In this regard, the Institute invites applications for suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Jitihada Project Manager

Job Purpose:
The Jitihada Project Manager will be responsible for building a locally managed, self-sustaining national competition. within the one year project period.

The Manager will therefore provide leadership and coordination for all activities required for the successful launch and execution of the competition.

Principal Accountabilities:
* Guide and develop a team of highly motivated professionals to implement the Jitihada Competition
* Promote the Jitihada brand to a national profile among the leading private sector Companies in Kenya and engage companies to support Jitihada
* With the support of the PR & Marketing Coordinator, lead the process of refining and implementing the Jitihada Marketing and PR plan
* Guide the process to develop and execute a strategy to engage the financial sector to provide capital to participants
* Provide oversight for the Implementation of Jitihada's curriculum and training programs development and implementation as well as formation of an aftercare program
* Oversee the development of written reports to be presented to the client

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:
* Holder of a degree in a relevant field
* An expert in private sector development with a minimum of 7 years relevant professional experience;
* Very familiar with the MSMEs sector and private sector initiatives in Kenya
* Conversant with project aid modality, programme design and management and financial management issues;
* Experience in directing multi - disciplinary teams
* Exposed to business plan competition
