Kijabe Trust: Operations Manager

Kijabe Trust is a non-profit Trust that manages a conservation area for and on behalf of the Kijabe Group Ranch and Regenesis Limited a Tourism investor in the area.

Kijabe Trust currently seeks to hire an Operations Manager to be based in Kijabe Group Ranch, Laikipia. The Operations Manager will be responsible for providing leadership, management and accountability for the activities of the Kijabe Trust.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the trust
  • Transact payroll, ensuring compliance with Kenya regulations and timely payment of payroll liabilities
  • Develop a fund raising capacity within the position to ensure that the trust can raise funds independently of individual partners if need be
  • Responsible for all financial management of the trust
  • Responsible for overall management of trust assets
  • Generate reports for trustees and interested parties on a regular basis and to the required format
  • Coordinate regular trust meetings
  • Develop and manage the Trust’s relationships within host and neighboring communities
Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:
  • Diploma in Natural Resources Management, Community Development, Social Sciences, Business Administration or related or a Higher (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
  • At least three years demonstrated experience in a similar role
  • CPA 1 or equivalent certification prefered
  • Genuine respect for the skills and perspectives of communities, partner organizations, private sector and trust committee
  • Proficiency in MS Office ( especially work and MS excel)
  • Knowledge of accounting software is an added advantage
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Interest in Conservation
  • Fluency in written and spoken English, Kiswahili and Maasai
