Person Profile

* Must have a PhD or equivalent degree.
* Must be a Professor, Associate Professor or Senior Lecturer with at least 10 years experience in a senior academic or spiritual management position.
* Must be a born again ordained minister of Christian of Evangelical faith, whose doctrines are in agreement with those of the University, with a track record of spiritual leadership.
* Has an outstanding internationally recognized record of scholarship and academic leadership as evidenced by extensive publications of articles and/or books in refereed journals.
* Has capacity and passion to promote learning and research in a competitive environment and to attract research funding.
* Has the ability to spearhead the integration of Biblical faith and learning and is committed to academic excellence.
* Must be of high ethical and moral standards, integrity and professionalism.

Job Profile

The position is at the Deputy Vice Chancellor level reporting to the Vice Chancellor with the holder being responsible to:

* Provide Spiritual leadership and spearhead the integration of faith and learning.
* Coordinate all academic, Chaplaincy and other spiritual programmes.
* Provide leadership in the management of academic affairs to high academic standards.
* Promote learning, outreach, Research and Innovation and seek research funding.
* Oversee the development, review and implementation of academic programmes and regulations.
* Undertake any other duties as may be delegated by the Vice Chancellor.

Remuneration and Terms of Employment

The position is a five year term renewable on mutual agreement and carries a competitive remuneration package that includes a basic salary, housing allowance, medical cover as per the University medical scheme, leave allowance, official transport and gratuity at the end of the contract.

Qualifications:

Applicants must be Kenyan citizens of not more than 35 years old. They must possess a Diploma in Computer Science or ICT related discipline from a reputable institution and at least one (1) year experience working in a busy ICT environment with LAN & WAN.

Prior experience working in a networked (both wireless & Cabled) ICT environment will be an added advantage; so will exposure to ERPs, Library & e-Learning systems.

Responsibilities:
  • Management of University Resource and/or Multimedia Centre(s).
  • Quarterly maintenance and servicing of resource and/or multimedia centre equipment.
  • Installation of requisite software for resource/multimedia centre equipment.
  • Offering Technical Support to resource/multimedia centre users.
  • Keeping usage statistics of resource/multimedia centres.
  • Joining of computers to University LAN and internet.
  • Ensuring resource centre internet availability of no less than 95.5%.
  • Safe-guarding of resource/multimedia centre equipment.
  • Providing basic computer skills training to staff.
  • Supervising of reprographic services in resource centres.
  • Provide other IT training as necessary e.g. e-learning content preparation, website centre management etc.
Terms of Service:

Successful Candidates will be appointed on a one (1) year contract renewable on mutual agreement.

Salary:

Scott Theological College: Principal

Scott Theological College (STC) founded in 1962 by the Africa Inland Church (AIC) – Kenya, is a private charted Christian University providing programs leading to certificate, Diploma, Bachelor of Theology and Masters of Education via distant learning.

Central to the College’s worldview is affirmation of God as triune, personal, creator and sustainer of all that is. The college is a training arm of AIC; As such the college asserts its right to employ persons who subscribe to its intent and mission.

The college is currently undergoing major transformation, first, with the name changing to Scott Christian University (SCU) and an expansion of programs to include other disciplines with the aim of preparing men and women for all Christian service to mankind.

The college is based in Machakos, but it is also establishing satellite campuses in other parts of the country. With this expansion in mind, the College is seeking to recruit a Principal who should be dynamic, visionary, and accomplished academician with a proven exemplary performance record to take the college to the next level of operation.

Job summary:

The Principal is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the College; reporting to the Governing Council and working in close consultations with faculty members, AIC Central office and networking with key sponsors both local and international.

As the CEO, the office holder will be the overall Administrative and Academic head of the college whose responsibility will include:
  • Overseeing the implementation of the policies laid down by the Governing Council.
  • Directing, promoting and coordination of all the programs and activities of the college
  • Representing and being spokesperson of the college
  • Maintaining harmony and cooperation among academic and administrative staff
  • Serving as the Chairman of the Academic Council and the Management board, convening meetings of these bodies as necessary to ensure the effective functioning of these bodies and the College
  • Ensuring that each member of the College, other than Members of the Governing Council, makes their affirmation to uphold the values of the college.
  • Assume administrative responsibility for the day to day operations of the college and its management
  • To be responsible for the total welfare, conduct and discipline of staff and students
  • To ensure that the financial and other needs of the College are made known in an appropriate way to the supporting stakeholders
  • To ensure that the accounts of the college are kept in a manner acceptable to the Governing Council
  • To provide the Governing Council with such reports on college affairs as required in fulfilling its functions effectively.
  • To inform the Governing Council concerning the fulfillment of the Mission, Distinctives, Philosophy and Objects of the College as required by the Charter
  • To perform any other duties consistent with the fulfillment of the Mission, Distinctives, Philosophy and Objects of the College
The individual should:
  • Be a PhD holder from a recognized university and an international acclaimed scholar with proven teaching and research experience at a university level or related organization.
  • Possess at least 4 years experience at the rank of senior lecturer or equivalent in a university.
  • Must have served either as a Head of academic department or a Dean of Faculty/School.
  • Have sound knowledge of strategic planning and visioning.
  • Possess sound knowledge and skills in administration, promotion, management of teaching and research in a University environment.
  • Demonstrate ability to recruit, train, retain, motivate, and manage a highly qualified diverse staff to achieve common goal.
  • Exhibit high level of business orientation in his/her operations.
  • Mature and sober evangelical Christian of high leadership and management repute demonstrated by positions previously held in reputable academic or research organizations; capable of making sound and impartial judgment.
  • Demonstrate ability to mobilize resources, establish rapport between the college, and churches, industry and Christian organizations both at national and international level for a common purpose.
  • Demonstrate ability to raise funds and other resources for the institution from several sources to fund and support various programs for the institution, including operational expenses, research, scholarships and other development activities.
  • Demonstrate ability to develop academic programs, curricula and pursuit of the same to full implementation
  • Demonstrate high level of communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to manage and control crisis
  • Demonstrate ability to take initiative in developing a strategic plan upon which he/she will grow the college within the stipulated time frame.
  • Demonstrate ability and willingness to take risk in starting small, but with a potential to grow along with the organization as one implements the strategic plan.

University Research Co: Quality Improvement Advisor - Nutrition

Job functions:
  • Provide managerial and technical oversight and overall support for the implementation of the Quality Improvement for Nutrition Support in the context of HIV/AIDS
  • Liaise with USAID mission in country, NHP and focal person of MoH to implement Quality Improvement for Nutrition Assessment, Counseling and Support (NACS) program in HIV context
  • Coordinate with different levels of MOH, health facilities, communities and implementing partners, and work to develop capacity to design, manage and support quality improvement activities at the site level
  • With MOH, build capacity of health staff in implementing NACS to improve the quality of the management of severely acute malnourished HIV patients with therapeutic food; develop manuals for coaching, training and learning sessions
  • Work closely with the implementing partners, facilitate and provide technical support
  • Provide technical and programmatic support to local community partners
  • Provide support to develop quality indicators, data collection, analysis and reporting
  • Document promising practices and lessons learned through regular monitoring visits
  • Design and implement training in QI to a wider forum as an advocacy tool
  • Work closely with local counterparts and quality improvement team to develop strategies for monitoring quality improvement progress at all levels of services
  • Conduct field visits as necessary to provide support to HF staff and Community Health Workers
  • Provide regular updates and progress reports to URC Senior QI advisor in DC
  • This is a local position and will be based in Nyanza
  • Maintain close working relationships with partners, health facility, district and community level partners in order to understand implementation challenges and support improvements
  • Work closely with HCI OVC regional Quality Improvement Advisor in Kenya
Responsible for:
  • Development of work plan
  • Technical assistance for quality improvement
  • Development of manuals for training, coaching, and learning sessions
  • Providing technical support to teams to conduct training, coaching and learning sessions
  • Assistance to HF staff to revise/develop referrals, counter referrals and follow up
Preferred experiences:
  • More than five years experiences in working with PLHA in the area of Nutrition status assessment, nutrition education, and counseling
  • Worked with colleagues and counterparts at MoH up to the community level to identify and prioritize those aspects of the delivery services that most need quality improvement
  • Worked with colleagues to facilitate and provide technical assistance to achieve quality improvement, including implementation plans, monitoring and ensuring that critical activities are met in accordance with the standards (Protocols)
Possess knowledge in the following areas:
  • Malnutrition, it classification and nutrition assessment methodology
  • Health system from national to the community level
  • The relationship between HIV and nutrition
Skills in the following areas:
  • Nutrition education and counseling
  • Managing projects and documentation
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to build networks and partnerships
  • Excellent verbal, written, facilitation, communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in teams
  • Administrative, financial and computer skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel in the field as and when required
  • Fluent in English, Swahili and/or Luo
Education:

Qualifications:

  • Applicants must be holders of B Sc. degree (1st or upper 2nd class honors) from a recognized university in any of the following areas: Information Technology; Information Systems; Computer Science, Computer Based Information and Communication Systems; and Computer Science and Software Engineering or in a related discipline.

Post:Monitoring and Evaluation (M and E) Advisor

The M and E Advisor must possess skills and experience in M and E and quality improvement, S/he must be a strategic thinker, able to analyze and process complex information and data. The M and E Advisor will maintain a robust and functional project monitoring and evaluation system that meets donor and HCI requirements, the Advisor will also improve capacity of fellow staff, district personnel and Ministry of Health (MoH) in monitoring and evaluation and develop clear strategies for information collection and provision, and communicating project lessons with stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and coordinate the design of the HCI Project's Performance Monitoring and Evaluation plan
• Ensure that the project indicators feed into Uganda AIDS Commission's National HIV/AIDS Strategic Framework, and the USAID Mission in Uganda's Performance Monitoring and Evaluation Plan
• Lead in conducting baseline assessments, outcome level assessments, qualitative studies and project evaluation.
• Lead the preparation of quarterly, semi-annual and annual reports on project progress as well as a completion report at the end of the project and provide regular feedback to guide project activities
• Supervise the maintenance of the Quality Improvement indicator database and promote the use of data among the project partners and the Ministry of Health,

1. Principal

School of Finance and Banking(Kigali): Vice Rector in charge of Administration and Finance (VRAF).

The School of Finance and Banking (SFB), in Kigali, is the leading business school in Rwanda, offering undergraduate, post-graduate, executive and vocational short-course instruction and training in the areas of business management, finance, banking, procurement, economics and entrepreneurship.

SFB is charting a path to become a university of international repute and regional importance.

The School would like to hire a dynamic, highly competent individual to fill one of the top management positions in higher education in the country, namely Vice Rector in charge of Administration and Finance (VRAF).

The salary is competitive.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The VRAF handles all administration and finance matters of the School through leadership of a staff of over sixty, not including a large staff of out-sourced contract workers. (S)he is the School’s Chief Budget Officer.

This means (s)he must ensure the introduction and use of sound internal control systems and financial planning tools, must manage the financial resources of the school effectively, efficiently and transparently and must prepare reports on budget execution, management of revenues and expenditures.

The VRAF:

  • Coordinates all activities relating to the organizational chart and the personnel of SFB.
  • Prepares, monitors and defends the SFB budget.
  • Prepares data relating to financial resources and property of SFB and oversees the prudent and appropriate use of the financial resources and property.
  • Manages construction, maintenance, procurement, logistics, vehicle fleet, contractor relationships and all SFB buildings and grounds.
  • Ensures compliance with all laws, regulations and decrees dealing with finance and administration.
  • Advises the Rector on all non-academic matters affecting the life of the school

Academic Qualifications

The position of VRAF requires a minimum of a Masters Degree or equivalent in Finance, Accounting, Management or similar relevant field.

A professional qualification in accounting in addition to the Masters degree would be a plus.

This position places a premium on excellent English-language writing skills.

Multi-lingual candidates who, in addition to English are strong in French, Kinyarwanda or Swahili will have an advantage.

Work Experience:

This is a high-level position. The applicant should have at least five years of senior management-level experience. Experience in the administration of an institution of higher learning would be a plus. Demonstrated ability to manage projects from start to finish and familiarity with institutional fund-raising are strong plus factors.

Other Qualifications:

The VRAF will have excellent interpersonal and communications skills., and work well as a member of a team, that will include the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and the Rector. The position requires a high level of computer literacy.
