Principle Responsibility & Position Purpose:

Reporting to the Chief Security Officer, the holder of this position will be responsible for responding to all guest requests for satisfactory shuttle service in a prompt, safe and courteous manner.

He/ she will be required to assists guests with luggage while boarding and off loading the vehicle. He/ she may be required to drive hotel catering van occasionally. He/ she may also be allocated hotel limousine.

Essential Functions:

* Transport guests to and from the hotel using the designated vehicle.
* Assist guests by lifting and carrying guest baggage on and off the van as needed.
* Provide information and respond to guest enquiries regarding hotel services, attractions, directions, etc. in order to maximise guest satisfaction.
* Respond to guest needs, special requests, and complaints as needed.
* Ensure vehicle complies with requirements of the Traffic Act and is always roadworthy.
* Ensure the vehicle is clean, with all auxiliary equipment in place.

Qualification Standards:

* High school graduate. Diploma in Hotel management will be an added advantage.
* At least five years experience in driving, preferably as a chauffeur.
* Valid class B.C.E and PSV license.
* Valid certificate of good conduct.
* Must be conversant with the Traffic Act of Kenya.
* Clean driving record or accident free.
* Knowledge about the facilities of the Hilton Hotels worldwide and Hilton Nairobi in particular will be an added advantage.

Specific Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

* Outgoing, punctual, people oriented, excellent communication skills, customer focused.

Through financial support from the Government of Sweden, Pact Kenya is implementing a four-year programme for Non-state Actors in Natural Resources Management in Kenya.

The programme targets support to projects in the areas of environment and climate change, agriculture and food security, water resources management and land use management. It aims at working with Civil Society Organisations to improve their capacity to influence how our country’s natural resources are managed.

We want to find new ways of getting those on the edge of our society more involved in this critical area and influence the policy and legislative frameworks for sustainability of natural resources and improvement of livelihoods.

This is an exciting initiative that has the potential to have an impact on millions of Kenyans and seeks to strengthen capacities of Civil Society Organizations working in Natural Resources.

We are therefore seeking competent and passionate individuals for the following positions to support the effective implementation of the Non-State Actors in Natural Resources Management programme:

Driver / Mechanic (PK/DM/2011)
Location: Nairobi, Dagorreti Corner

Job Description:

Reporting to the senior driver, the driver-mechanic will be required to provide professional driving, transportation and other logistical support services to the overall Pact Kenya operations as shall be required from time to time.

Duties and responsibilities:

Specifically, the driver-mechanic will be responsible for but not limited to:

* Take responsibility for ensuring that you possess the necessary personal documentation as required under the Traffic laws of Kenya
* Ensure that the Pact Kenya vehicle (s) used is fully insured as appropriate for all countries it may travel through or work in.
* Ensure that the vehicle (s) is properly and reliably serviced and maintained to the necessary standard so as to enable consistent safe movement within.
* Liaise with the senior driver as to any major repairs needed and get relevant clearance for major repair work to be undertaken.
* Fully understand all Pact Kenya security practices, procedures and protocols
* Ensure that official log book, service and maintenance books are kept in good order at all times.
* Ensure that the vehicle (s) is used for official business only and to resist attempts by any party to use Pact Kenya vehicle(s) for personal or unofficial use.
* Prevent the carrying of any dubious cargo which may bring Pact Kenya into conflict with relevant authorities e.g. the smuggling/transport of contraband items etc
* Ensure all journeys if made across the boarders have required security clearance from the relevant authorities before commencement.
* Ensure that before each journey the vehicle has the required security and safety equipment according to the list made and procedures to be followed
* Undertake any other reasonable duties as may be assigned that are consistent with the nature of the job and its level of responsibility.

Preferred Skills:

The minimum required academic and professional skills for the jobholder to perform successfully in their job are:

* KCSE Qualifications
* Post KCSE qualifications like a diploma level will be an added advantage
* Basic motor vehicle mechanics knowledge and skills
* A valid drivers license with over 5 years proven experience in a busy environment
* Good Knowledge of program areas as the driver will be responsible for movement of program staff and goods within the regions
* Fluent in written and spoken English
* Ability to communicate effectively with others
* Ability to work effectively and efficiently as part of a team

RTI International: Jobs and Vacancies

RTI International is recruiting for the following job positions for an upcoming primary math and reading (PRIMR) project.

Education Specialist(s) will provide technical support for the development of language specific learning materials, teacher and student materials, and specified frameworks as funded by USAID/Kenya and agreed with by MOE.

The specialist’s activities include working with RTI technical staff and the MOE to identify, develop, and harmonize effective Kiswahili literacy and English transition instructional approaches to be used in Standard 1 and 2.

The assignment is highly technical and managerial, with emphasis on linguistic characteristics of languages, and is designed to provide high level support for effective local capacity building. In particular, the education specialist will work with TAC tutors, and education officers to support the delivery of the reading and math curriculum in early grades.

Qualifications: Bachelors and ten years of experience in the education sector with understanding of scientifically-based reading and math research; Knowledge of a balanced literacy framework and early mathematics understanding; Knowledge of Kiswahili and English transition instruction strategies; interest in urban slum areas; Fluency in English and Kiswahili required.

Education Policy Specialist will provide policy and analytic support for the MOE in the development of Kiswahili, English and mathematics materials.

The specialist will work with RTI technical staff to develop the reading materials, and will work closely with the MOE and government bodies to integrate the ideas into existing government programs.

The specialist will provide policy advice, including ongoing policy studies for the MOE focused on the scale-up of early grade reading and math instructional improvement programs.

The assignment is highly technical, and is designed to focus on providing local capacity building at the MOE, provincial, municipal and city education officer and Quality Assurance officer positions.

Qualifications: Bachelors and ten years of experience in the education sector with deep understanding of scientifically-based reading and math research; Evidence of deep understanding of policy development in the education sector at the primary level; Ability to measure basic foundation skills for literacy and math in the early grades; Fluency in English and Kiswahili required.

M&E Officer will focus on the implementation of all reading and math assessments for students in Standard 1 and 2. Activities include instrument development, sampling, complex weighting, analysis and report writing.

RTI will provide guidance and support for all of the tasks that are needed to execute these assessments in timely manner. M&E specialist will supervise ongoing assessment of program outcomes, including the development of classroom observation tools and the implementation of ongoing monitoring.

Qualifications: 10 years of overall experience with a B.A, MA, or MBA with commensurate experience working in education. Experience in implementing USAID projects required. Experience in survey design and implementation required.

Accountant will work on the financial and reporting functions for the program in the Nairobi and field offices to ensure compliance with the contract.

Specific responsibilities include: preparing and submitting monthly financial statements (including expenses, receivable and payables, funds requests, reconciliations) and other reporting requirements to RTI’s head office within the designated time period; implementing, consolidating and monitoring cost effective and efficient systems (including accounting software) and procedures with strong internal controls; coordinating the tracking of finances related to workshops and trainings; and preparing other financial and cost accounting reports, operations and analysis as required by management and RTI Finance Manager.

Qualifications: Bachelor degree plus three years experience in Finance or Accounting with CPA. Experience working for a USAID project is desirable. Knowledge of QuickBooks is desirable.

Office Manager will work to ensure the efficient day-to-day management of the office, including oversight of administrative and research assistants. Coordinate and track staff and visiting RTI/USAID staff and consultants travel, reserves accommodation, coordinates visa applications, and other travel requirements.

Coordinates the logistics for workshops and project meetings, might include reserving venues, organizing schedules and invitations, ensuring that protocol is kept. Assists in project financial management, including preparing field financial reports, purchase and management of office supplies, and other tasks as appropriate.

Qualifications:

Tertiary qualification in administration/secretarial or related field; at least 5 years of experience office administration and management; experience working with USAID-funded programs would be an advantage; good financial management, organizational and interpersonal skills, attention to detail and ability to work in a team.

Administrative Assistant will provide operational support for office, including supporting logistics, program implementation and start-up and close down procedures. Coordinate and track travel logistics. Assist in the setup of presentations, reproduce and distribute documents. Actively maintain and update the filing system of the office to ensure all records are properly field. Assist with office inquiries.

Responsible for maintaining meetings for the senior project staff. This might include booking rooms, coordinating schedules, meeting invites, preparing agendas and taking meeting minutes. Responds to inquiries and provides a wide range of administrative duties. Proofread, edit and format monthly and final reports.

Qualifications: Post-secondary training in administrative and secretarial roles. A minimum of 2 years’ experience in administrative support.

Driver will drive, maintain and manage the project vehicle. Collect and deliver goods, mail, and documents. Meet personnel, facilitate immigration and customs formalities. Take care of day-to-day maintenance of the vehicles, check oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc.; perform minor repairs and arrange for other repairs, ensure that vehicle is kept clean. Log official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil changes, greasing.

Qualifications: Minimum of secondary formal education, advanced training is preferred. Driving license and driving certificate.

VSF Belgium: Driver

VSF Belgium is a recognized developmental International NGO founded in 1995 working with disadvantaged communities to increase their standards of living, improve food security and livelihood sustainability through improved animal health and animal production.

In East Africa, our programmes focus on community based animal health services, capacity building of local institutions and governments, conflict mitigation and sustainable natural resource management.

Position Title: Driver

Duty Station: Garissa, Kenya

Duration: 9 months ( renewable)

Role:

The Driver will provide general driving duties, servicing of vehicles and motorbikes, assist in performing basic repairs and to provide logistical support to VSF Belgium Projects in Garissa.

He/she reports directly to the Field Officer – Garissa office.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide safe driving services.
  • Perform basic repairs and maintenance on vehicles and motor bikes,, repairs and regular servicing as required following the procedures set up to undertake this activity.
  • Regularly inspect project vehicles and motor bikes and ensure that they are in sound mechanical condition and advice the project manager on major repairs when required.
  • Ensuring all project vehicles are kept clean and free from abuse/misuse at all times.
  • Keep vehicle log-books up to date, travel only on authorized trips, account and truck mileage returns.
  • Confirm vehicle repairs and invoices done outside the project office (e.g. at gazetted garages).
  • Responsible for vehicle fueling and monitoring the use of vehicle fuel, oils and lubricants.
  • Prepare vehicle status and fuel consumption reports on weekly/monthly basis and submit to the immediate supervisor.
  • Provide logistical support to both programme and support teams.
  • Carry out any such activity/tasks as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Minimum Requirements:
  • At least Ordinary (O) level Certificate of Education or its equivalent.
  • Clean Kenyan driving license.
  • Must be a holder of certificate of good conduct.
Knowledge and Experience:
  • At least five (5) years driving experience of a 4WD vehicle; out of which 2-years should be with an NGO/GoK.
  • At least two (2) years field work experience in Garissa and other Northern Eastern Districts, ASAL regions of Kenya.
  • Training and experience in basic vehicle maintenance.
  • Good knowledge in use of Radio Call (HF & VHF)
  • Basic knowledge in logistics in order to give optimal logistical support to the team.
Skills:
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Basic Computer skills (especially Microsoft applications) will be an added advantage.
  • Ability to work independently, under pressure and meet strict deadlines.

The ESPP is a five year programme which is coordinated by the Social Protection Secretariat within the MGLSD and includes a pilot cash transfer scheme, the Social Assistance Grants for Empowerment (SAGE) Programme. SAGE will provide regular cash transfers to vulnerable families living in chronic poverty. SAGE will work initially in fourteen districts, reaching 15% of households, in target districts, with the aim of subsequent national scale-up.

MAIN DUTIES:
• Drive REA Officers both at duly station and in the field
• Deliver and collect mail from various offices/ premises
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness
• - Ensure that vehicles are sound and in and in good mechanical condition
• Ensure vehicles arc parked in safe place
• Maintain Log Books for duties at the work station and in the field
• Any other responsibility as may be assigned by the Supervisors
• Under the supervision of the Manager Finance and Administration

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum of Ordinary Level Certificate with at least 4 Passes including English Language
• A valid Driving Permit
• Should possess proficiency Test Certificate from the Ministry of Works, Housing and Communication
• At least 5 years accident free proven experience with Government Institutions of which at least three have been spent on donor funded projects

Duties and responsibilities:
Reports to the Administrative Officer and performs the following duties:-
•Drives the UNBS vehicles as directed and ensure their safety.
•Check vehicles to ensure that they are in proper and good running condition.
•Maintain the vehicle by ensuring its cleanliness, regular service and repair.
•Maintain the vehicle records including service cards.
•Maintain accurate log sheets and give accountability of fuel used.
• Inform your supervisor immediately about mechanical problems which result from normal use and accident or theft immediately to both the Police and your supervisor.
•Any other official duties assigned by the supervisor

Requirements:
• Should possess at least 3 Classes, (B, CH, DL and or DM) for the driving permit

• A person of high integrity and honesty
• A certificate on motor vehicle maintenance will be an added advantage

The purpose of the project is to strengthen the health system to be able to plan, implement and monitor service delivery leading to increased access to health services especially for children and mothers.

The Kenya Vision 2030 Delivery Secretariat invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Drivers.

Duties and responsibilities:
* Undertake routine and preventive maintenance of motor vehicle by checking and topping-up the level of petrol, oil, water, battery electrodes and tyre pressure before operating the vehicle.
* Regularly clean and polish vehicle, change tyres as well as make minor repairs or adjustments.
* Drive motor vehicle (car/van) to transport directors, staff, clients and others to designated locations.
* Perform miscellaneous errands such as paying bills, postage of letters, collecting and delivering mail and other items as well as buying goods, supplies and consumer items.
* Load and offload baggage, goods and other material supplies with due regard to the safety of other people.
* Maintain records of the motor vehicle’s daily activity showing journey, mileage, petrol, oil and signature of authorizing officer to account for all the journeys made.
* Observe traffic and safety precautions in order to prevent accidents and to avoid traffic violations, in addition, undertake first aid in case of injuries.
* Report motor vehicle accident to the traffic police and the Procurement and Logistics manager, obtain police abstract report and complete insurance accident report form in conformance to traffic rules and regulations.
* Filing requisition for petrol, lubricants and spare parts and maintaining records, accounting for the same.
* Implement preventive maintenance by taking motor vehicle for major service or repairs in accordance with planned schedule or instructions.

Job requirements:

* Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education mean grade D+ (Plus) with C Plain in both English and Kiswahili or equivalent qualification from recognized Institution.
* A valid driving license from any current endorsement(s) for class (es) of vehicle (s) an officer is required to drive.
* Attended a First- Aid Certificate course at St. John Ambulance or Kenya Institute of Highway and building Technology (KIHIBIT) or any other recognized Institution;
* Passed suitability test for Driver Grade III;
* A valid Certificate of good conduct, and
* At least four (4) years driving experience
