Chief Accountant

The purpose of this role will be to perform highly complex accounting work to generally accepted accounting principles, established procedures and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities/ Accountabilities:

* Ensure adherence to general acceptable accounting standards and principles, maintain proper audit trails, verification and reconciliation actions for all processed work.
* Ensure compliance with tax and other statutory deadlines.
* Ensure all functional activities and projects are performed within established budgetary parameters, including performing cost control activities, monitoring revenues and expenditure and ensure sound fiscal control.
* Participate in developing budgets and forecasts.
* Plan, manage, coordinate and implement the year end closing process and procedures.
* Plan and establish work schedules within set deadlines, evaluate accounting and expenditure documents, purchase orders, distribution and disbursement orders for the purpose of ensuring compliance with established regulatory standards.
* Prepare clear and concise periodic financial statements and reports ensuring compliance with established financial policies and procedures.
* Provide technical accounting support and interpretation to the business.
* Analyse budget pattern and financial expenditure. Forecast trends and analysis of results.
* Develop narrative and statistical reports for business review.

Skills, Experience & Competencies Required:

Bachelors degree in finance, accounting or related field and professional accountancy certification (CPA / ACCA), Assistant Audit Manager or Audit Manager

Experience with 7 to 10 years post qualification progressively responsible experience in business accounting and budget administration.

The incumbent will have extensive experience in financial reporting, internal control, financial analysis and budgeting.

Maintenance Supervisor

The purpose of this role will be to ensure timely scheduled maintenance is carried out in line with approved quality standards.

Key responsibilities/ Accountabilities:

* Plan and implement cost effective plant preventative maintenance scheduled in line with safety operating procedures and standards.
* Monitor maintenance of work flow, observing quality control process and facilitate corrections to malfunctions within maintenance procedures and systems.
* Ensure optimum plant output through elimination of wastage, shutdowns/breakdowns and cost reductions.
* Complete maintenance plan by scheduling, accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the maintenance summaries.
* Ensure operation of equipment by organizing repairs; evaluating new equipment and techniques. Review maintenance performance and ensure conformity with quality requirements.
* Maintain safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources; maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
* Ensure full compliance with SHEQ standards.

Skills, Experience & Competencies Required:

* BSC Engineering or Higher National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, 5 years hands on experience in plant maintenance in a manufacturing industry.

Electrical Technician

The purpose of this role will be to periodically inspect equipment, and carry out planned preventive maintenance in compliance with OSH Act 2007 requirements and regulatory electrical standards.

Key responsibilities/ Accountabilities:

* Develop and implement a cost effective maintenance programme for all electrical installations and equipment and monitor maintenance against standards.
* Understand plant layouts and where critical electrical equipment and installations are situated.
* Carry out daily checks on equipment for unsafe conditions, arrange for repairs as necessary and update the relevant register.
* Test operation of equipment, trace all filling processes, repair where necessary and retest.
* Upgrade electrical installations as required with special attention to the protection of the various electrical equipments on site.
* Ensure maintenance of adequate stocks of all critical electrical spares.
* Abide by and follow emergency requirements. Install, maintain and repair industrial electrical and electronic equipment.
* Work with engineering staff to improve or design equipment, and fix malfunctioning equipment as needed. Installation of new equipment or machinery.

Skills, Experience & Competencies Required:

* Higher National Diploma in Electrical Engineering
* 5 years hands on experience in plant maintenance in a manufacturing industry.

* Diploma in medical lab technologist from a recognized institution
* Be registered by KMLTTB
* 2 years working experience in a busy health facility

6. Clinical Officer

Qualifications:

* Diploma in clinical medicine and surgery from a recognized institution
* Must be registered by the clinical officer council
* 2 years working experience in a busy centre.

7. Optician

Qualifications:

* Diploma in optical from Kenya medical training college (KMTC)

The holder of this position will head the Legal Section of the College and will report to the Principal.

A vacancy has arisen for a senior food technologist who is a dynamic and self focused self starter with a passion for excellence, customers, people development and quality products.

Location

The position is based at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, an operation which employs 1,100 people. Processed vegetables are packed in more than 150 different formats and are loaded daily through a dedicated air-bridge.

The Job

Reporting to the Director for Vegetables & Freight, the person will work as an integral part of the team in order to strategically provide technical service and expertise to our vegetable business by assisting to meet sales, profit and other targets.

Supported by the Group Technical Director, the person will set standards of safety, quality and trust to protect and enhance our own and our customers’ Brand Integrity.

The key responsibilities include:

* providing leadership, direction, coaching and development to the vegetables technical team;
* working with the Group Technical Director to establish the Kenya Vegetable business Technical Policy that meets customers’ and our own aspirations;
* translating Finlays Fresh Produce and Customers Technical Policy into an implementation plan for the Kenya Vegetables business and our suppliers;
* ensuring that our vegetable products, systems and procedures are compliant with customers’ codes of practice and specifications;
* providing customer facing and supplier facing technical expertise;
* representing the company on technical issues with customers and suppliers;
* managing technical issues as necessary to minimise impact on customers and our own Brand;
* keeping up to date with technical developments and encouraging the continual development of products and processes;
* ensuring Quality Management Systems (QMS) for GAP and GMP are implemented both internally and by suppliers and utilising the QMS data to monitor and review performance, taking appropriate action and implementing product and process improvement;
* developing and implementing innovation and research plans;
* working closely with Finlays Fresh Produce team to deliver supply base strategy;
* providing up to date technical advice for specific areas of technical responsibility;
* effectively liaising and communicating with customer, technical, laboratory, development QC, commercial and operations teams; and
* provide leadership and direction as the lead technical manager for nominated suppliers.

The person

The ideal candidate must possess the qualifications / competencies outlined below.

* Should be a graduate in a food related science with experience in technical aspects of a reputable vegetable business being a distinct advantage;
* Ten years demonstrable technical & managerial experience, devising and implementing business relevant strategy, preferably within a large company.
* Depth of skill including problem solving and experience should ensure that sound people, line management and functional competence can be taken for granted;
* Self driven, reliant and motivated, being energetic and positive in outlook with hands on approach to see things through to completion;
* Highly numerate and computer literate;
* Experience in handling and planning across a multi-site operation with good project management and preferably lean manufacturing knowledge;
* Able to structure a plan, marshal resources, work as a team and deliver on commitments; and
* Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills: persuasive and with the gravitas to gain senior management confidence.

Job Summary

This job will involve the following:

* He/she will be responsible for planning of all activities related to the capacity building in the project;
* Through consultation with other Program Staff members and key stakeholders, develop and design the Training Program for the resource centre for the next three years;
* Ensure the design and development of curriculum and courses for the resource centre as agreed upon;
* Ensure and liaise with the relevant staff members in the development and production of essential tools and materials to be used in the different activities of the Capacity Building of the project;
* Ensure that the training and capacity building activities agreed upon are implemented in a timely manner as per the work plan and set targets are achieved;
* Ensure that relevant project outputs, best practices and lessons learned are captured, well documented and disseminated, complying with the agreed requirements;
* Evaluate the training courses and curriculum and ensure that statutory training requirements are met;
* Amend and revise capacity building activities as necessary in order to adapt to the changes that might occur within the life of the project;
* Coordinate and supervise technical staff involved in capacity building;
* Ensure that the narrative reports on training and capacity building are compiled and submitted in a timely manner.

Specific Tasks of the Training Officer

Networking and Collaboration responsibilities:

* Develop and maintain existing networks and partnerships with projects’ stakeholders and partners;
* Ensure gender equity throughout the organization’s capacity building activities and practice;
* Represent AYT at selected meetings, conferences and other relevant events with a focus on staying up-to-date in the field of capacity building requirements in regards to youth employment.

Eligibility and Competencies:

* University degree in Education; Social Sciences or Business related field from a recognized university/institute;
* Demonstrated competence and administrative ability in planning and management of programmes on entrepreneurship, youth development and/or related activities;
* Experience in conducting and facilitating youth training workshops;
* Proficiency in written and spoken English and Kiswahili;
* Knowledge and skills of relevant computer applications of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point), knowledge of Internet communications and command is required

The Job

* Maintaining databases including tuning database servers, performance monitoring while ensuring security, accurate and regular updates;
* Participation in the design and development of databases to meet existing and new user needs taking into account technological innovations;
* Facilitating the increasing demand for access to data - increasingly via the intranet and/or website;
* Devising, developing, implementing and on a regular basis testing disaster recovery and archiving procedures for databases;
* Supporting users of acquired or in-house developed applications and providing the required solution and resolving user needs and problems;
* Working closely with ICT project managers and other database programmers;
* Commissioning, installing and testing new applications;
* Writing and maintaining programming code and associated documentation;
* Analyzing client/server and micro-computer based software solutions compatibility with company requirements;
* Maintaining confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed;
* Documenting programming problems and resolutions for future reference.

The Person

We require a candidate with the following qualifications:

* Fully familiar with Microsoft technologies with special emphasis on Visual BASIC, .Net framework, ASP.net as front-end development tools and MS Access, MS SQL server 2000/2005/2008 as back-end databases and IIS;
* Proficiency in enterprise reporting tools e.g. Crystal Report, MS reporting;
* Basic knowledge of Active Directory, Windows 2003/2008 server and Windows XP & 7 desktop operating system, Exchange 2003 / 2010 mail server, and other applications relating to networking;
* MIS reporting skills;
* Competency in Epicor Scala financial accounting and/or Harvest IT ERP packages will be an added advantage
* An MCSD will be given preference
* Minimum base qualification required is Bachelors in IT/IS/Computer Science/Business Studies;
* A Minimum of at least three years similar experience with a reputable company.
