This will include technical and/or financial assistance to help improve productivity and growth of agricultural and off-farm value chains through expanded financial services access to undeserved groups. Candidates sought for the following positions:

Rural and Agriculture Financial Product Development
- Responsible for facilitating the development of value chain financial products suitable for the target groups.

Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years experience in product development, market research, and rural financial service expansion.
- Kenyan citizenship
- Master’s degree in economics, finance or other relevant training
- Proven successful experience in expansion of agricultural finance services that can contribute directly to agricultural development, agribusiness and trade expansion.
- Sound exposure to the development of savings and credit schemes targeting the youth and very poor.

Contracts Manager
- Develop and lead a pre-selection process that provides opportunity for all qualified Kenyan and international experts and firms to submit their capability statements.
- Prepare scopes of work and tender documents
- Market tenders in appropriate national and international media
- Responsible for setting contract award policy, and developing and enforcing procedures that assure equity and transparency in the contract award tendering process
- Provide leadership in incorporating the outcomes of stakeholder dialogue and potential financial service provider identification efforts into competitive tenders for the facilitation of inclusive financial markets
- Responsible for integration of cross-cutting issues including gender and youth mainstreaming into the design of financial inclusion activities
- Provide leadership in all aspects of the Contractor’s financial accounting and reporting in accordance with USAID requirements. He/she may work with a project accountant to assure appropriate use of grant funds and that accounting and performance reports meet project and USAID standards

Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Development Studies or any other relevant discipline
- Five years working experience with USAID or other USG financial management/contract-making programs
- Kenyan citizenship

Also seeking candidates with the following technical skills:
- Contracts and Grants Management
- Development of private sector linkages and alliances
- MSME financing
- Experience in working with gender and youth

Organizational background

The World Food Programme Somalia activities include food assistance relief, emergency school feeding, humanitarian air and logistics services, food coordination and emergency rehabilitation projects.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the direct supervision of the Programme Officer (M&E), the Staff Assistant M&E (Data Entry) will perform the following tasks:
  • Prepare a monthly report that compares tonnage in allocation plan, distribution plan and deliveries by district, region and modality.
  • Highlight differences and explain the reasons for these differences.
  • Present findings to senior management and programme staff on a monthly basis.
  • Co-ordinate with other units and sub-offices to resolve issues and clarify or obtain additional information
  • Prepare a report on the monthly monitoring activities undertaken in the month and another report on monitoring activities undertaken since the beginning of the year highlighting Food Distribution Points (FDPs) Cooperating Partners (CPs) not visited or not visited enough since the beginning of year.
  • Archive monitoring checklist collected from Areas of Responsibility ( AORs) monthly
  • Maintain a tracking system by tracking number of beneficiary feedback cards distributed by region, district and FDP
  • Coordinate with sub offices to ensure that beneficiary feedback cards are being distributed in active FDPs
  • Preparation of power points slides for monthly M&E reports by 6th of every month
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor
Minimal qualifications:

Education: Secondary school education, preferably supplemented by courses in a field related to WFP programmatic activities.

Experience: At least three years of progressively responsible support experience including at least one year in the field of accounting, transport, insurance, statistics, operations or another related field, or a university degree with at least one year relevant work experience.

Language: Fluency in both written and spoken English is a requirement.

Knowledge: Experience utilizing computers including word processing, spreadsheet and other software packages.

Job Summary:

3. Pricing:

  • Following an agreed pricing strategy, setting master pricing and promotional pricing to meet budget requirements.
  • Monitoring of pricing within agreed parameters.
  • Investigation and delivery of price points to optimise product penetration in the bottom end of the market.

4. Administration:

  • Liaison with Finance & Control (FICO) to optimise P&L, transfer pricing, SKU performance data, bad goods analyses and any other necessary information
  • Responding to queries and supplying Equatorial African Region (EAR) feedback within deadline
  • Response to queries from other markets within agreed times
  • Use of best practice tools to manage business Product Fixed & Marketing Expense (PFME) spend, volume projections and New Product Development (NPD) process)

5. Promotions:

  • Setting up, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of promotions beginning with approved briefs and meeting internal audit requirements.
  • Manage the implementation and evaluation of approved Consumer Communication plan.
  • Regular attendance and input at regional sales meetings.

6. People Leadership:

  • Oversee brand team and develop marketing competencies of junior staff members

Tasks:

  • Carry out physical stock inventory, inspect bin card records for accuracy, compare physical inventory and bin card records and recommend appropriate action.
  • Gather information on ART patients per regimen and report data on stock position to Nairobi team to be used in forecasting and quantification for procurement.
  • Gather additional site specific information on other factors that impact patient needs and numbers to assist Kenya Pharma in servicing the service delivery points.

  • Additional training on conflict management and youth development issues, an added advantage.
Experience:

2. Optimize Point of purchase

•With CCSD identify promotional opportunities for Cereals.

3. Pricing
•Following an agreed pricing strategy, setting master pricing and promotional pricing to meet budget requirements.
• Monitoring of pricing within agreed parameters.
• Investigation and delivery of price points to optimise product penetration in the bottom end of the market.

4. Administration
•Liaison with Finance & Control (FICO) to optimise P&L, transfer pricing, SKU performance data, bad goods analyses and any other necessary information
•Responding to queries and supplying Equatorial African Region (EAR) feedback within deadline
•Response to queries from other markets within agreed times
•Use of best practice tools to manage business Product Fixed & Marketing Expense (PFME) spend, volume projections and New Product Development (NPD) process)

5. Promotions
•Setting up, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of promotions beginning with approved briefs and meeting internal audit requirements.
•Manage the implementation and evaluation of approved Consumer Communication plan.
•Regular attendance and input at regional sales meetings.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Kenya Mission seeks to fill the position of Agricultural Biotechnology Specialist for its Agriculture, Business & Environment Office (ABEO).

The position is based in Nairobi and is open to qualified Kenyan citizens.

Functions of the Position:

The Agricultural Biotechnology Advisor serves as the principal biotechnology advisor to USAID/Kenya, and as the biotechnology program manager and Contracting/Agreement Officer’s Technical Representative within ABEO.

The Specialist provides expertise on the subject of agricultural biotechnology (crops and livestock), designs and manages the USAID/Kenya biotechnology program, monitors policy developments, advises on testing and transfer of biotechnology products, and ensures that program activities support USAID’s objectives to improve agricultural productivity, economic growth, food security, and environmental policy.

He/she manages all USAID/Kenya’s biotechnology program activities and reports on results and impact in close collaboration with USAID/Washington biotechnology specialists.

He/she represents USAID at various forums and liaises with donors, the private sector, Government of Kenya agencies, non-governmental organizations, international research organizations, advocacy groups and other stakeholders in the sector in Kenya.

Fluency in writing and speaking English and Kiswahili. Ability to develop and maintain high level contacts in the field of agricultural biotechnology and represent USAID effectively. Must be a self-starter, able to analyze and evaluate complex information from a variety of sources and prepare precise, accurate and well-written reports, often under tight deadlines and with minimal direction. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required.
